Will my mallards ever stop running/peeping in fear?

I should explain that my ducks aren't exactly "pets" per say. I don't try to pick them up and cuddle them etc because I just believe that ducks aren't cuddly pets and don't WANT to be messed with like that.... but I do like ducks that at least knows I am the lady with the peas and come running. My mallards just always ran away.

Ok...so what about cayugas? They are gorgeous ducks. Also, My mallards will do all their little duckie things with me right there next to them so I don't think they are TOO scared. They clean themselves...watch me fill the food dish, waterer, etc. and once I give them fresh water....they could care less if I'm there or not! It's obsession time then! Also, they will take treats from human hands....so hopefully they'll be ok.I don't try to pick them up constantly but when I need to I want to be able to.They get scared but never have tried to bite so far.

Oh well..Your mallards already sound like they do more with you than mine ever did. None of my ducks like to be picked up. But I'm the boss and when I need to I do it. And trust me, that's not as easy with a big ole muscovy drake as it is with a mallard.
