My niece is a new years baby and christmas interferes with her birthday also. When I have kids, I'm going to deliberately avoid concieving between Feb and May to avoid birthdays in the holiday season!
I plan to have a timed light in my new coop I'm building. I've read they need 14 hours of light to keep laying and it's best if the light comes on in the early morning to avoid sudden dark when they still have to find their way back to bed.
