Will roaming chickens find and eat discarded staples in the grass?

Chicken wire is thin and easily broken. They don't bother ripping through the fence staples, they just break the wire itself.

I have a place where either a dog or a raccoon nearly got through the hardware cloth on my first coop.

@3KillerBs , Did the dog get through the chicken wire or the hardware cloth on your first coop? (typo in your comment?) Cause if they can get through hardware cloth, I'll need to strengthen mine somehow...

Not quite, but it was distorted badly enough that we had to repair it. Whatever it was broke several of the welds on the wires and started to separate the wires.

Unfortunately, I can't get a photo with the repair in the way.
