I know it does hurt and I will say a prayer you be ok soon..are you getting a cast...I did and then this clummsy surgical boot that the metal on the side cut right into my ankle that had surgery 5 screws screwed into the bone to hold the metal plate and the backs of the screws dug into my meat and bump by the boot metal..oh that sent me right up a tree here and there. So be careful and take it easy..keep in touch..

Best of luck to you, Orcas! Just so you know, it doesn't really hurt any MORE to have it set as long as it's within a few hours (same day like). Unfortunately we have to send people out that need re-set, the orthopedic surgeons don't come in here in Oly unless there's an IMMEDIATE surgical need.
Really glad there's at least a doc there, I'm sure he knows how to do everything BUT run the xray, being on a small island! I'm sure you are in good hands... my thoughts and prayers for a speedy healing.

Yes we do have doctors, pretty good ones actually, and a medical center, with limited facilities. But no one realy likes to get up in the middle of the night. My doctor is actually a good one, he got up and came to the phone himself, but I can't pretend a broken foot is life threatening. And unfortunately in an emergency I get very calm. the worse the pain the calmer I sound, so that those emergency pain scales, blood pressure readings etc. never indicate i'm realy hurt. I wish i could sob prettily like some of my freinds and I would seem more hurt.

It is good to know if they have to bundle me off to have it set that they can still do it this afternoon. several of my toes are pointing sideways, and it is very disturbing. Like one of Debbie Raymonds disturbing avatars.

I am the same way. I shut down emotional and sort of close in. I deal with pain in a very different way that most people. I also have a high tolerance and tend to waive off the severity of an issue. But I have to say this - thank you for pain meds!!

I'm glad there is someone else like me. When I go into crisis mode I shut down also. That is a good term. You can tell because i'm having trouble typing that all is not well, but my color is fine my voice is fine, I can walk on a break if I have to... I know I did it one time when I had a riding accident once. WAlked home, put the horse up, xrays showed one leg bone snapped clean through and the other cracked most of the way with multiple stress fractures from the motion of my hobbling home on it.

This isn't that bad but i'm older now, and my bones may not heal so well. So i am being sensible. I have it up. I am going to go make some coffee though. I was going to go get a latte, before the drs office opened, but I decided that seems too casual and will make it harder to get good care.

thank you everyone for keeping me company so I am no alone, I realy cannot concentrate much and I hate to admit how nice it is to get a little sympathy.
