Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

My broody hen has been sitting on eggs for 4 days, getting up to eat, drink, and poop for a few minutes each day. Today, she accidentally got locked out of her box for about 4 hours. It was 98 degrees today but the eggs were cool to the touch (and mom was beside herself). Is there any hope for those chicks?
