- That would be so horrible. I watched your thread/treatment- you did a good job.
I've been so jealous of all the 18 weekers that got eggs on Christmas eve/day. Sigh....It's been torture.

Well...from what it sounds like from lots of people (me included!) nearly everybody's girls are taking their sweet time to start laying this year! (Except those few lucky 18-weekers

) I have to say though, once my one Australorp started at 25 weeks, the others weren't far behind. I have 7 total pullets and I'm getting 4-5 eggs a day now. I predict you'll have eggs galore before you know it!!

Maybe even a Happy New Year egg!!!

I got home from work at 11pm and the light was still on in the coop (a prong fell out of the timer), I went out to shut the light off and there was a perfect little tiny egg!!!!
It wasn't in the nest box, but in a cat litter box filled with dirt that they play in.
They are one day short of 22 weeks and it was EXACTLY 3 weeks from first squat to first egg.
Now, I have to figure out who layed it. Do Delawares lay brown eggs? I think it was Honey, but tomarrow I'll watch them like a hawk and maybe find out who it was.

I have one hen who just hatched 2 chicks and my other pullet 6 1/2 months old has been laying an egg a day for the past 2 weeks. I thoght the pullet was going to set also but she just lays the eggs and out hte coop she goes runing as fast as she can almost like to say "I will have no part of that".

What joy I get from my feathered friends. i also have 3 black silkies who are 17 weeks old as of yesterday and I still can not figure out if they are male or female. No signs of a crow but two of then do the stare down but no jumping at each other.

Congrats! Must feel nice. Reading back in the thread I read about the 25 wk. old Austrolorp, I'm praying I'm the next one to post an egg!
I have 3 25 wk. old hens squating, my Austrolorp, Deleware and Barred Rock. The Deleware is so noisy though now.
When they do lay, is there a time of day they tend to do it more? The light comes on in the coop at 3 a.m. and goes off at 5 p.m., they do get outside if the weather is nice, but I think here in NY it's gonna get real cold the next few days and they will be locked up. Hope that doesn't push it off any more.
