Will these girls ever lay? Update: Green Egg and Pippa layed too!

Mine lays a different time every day. She doesnt seem to have a pattern established yet. May be because she is so young. She laid her egg yesterday around 4pm. The day before that it was before noon. we do not turn on the light in the morning, just the natural light. I do turn on the light in the coop around 5:30 then the chickens go in and about 6:00-6:30 we go in and do our nightly goodnight ritual. Everyone gets held and fed a snack of mealworms and put in they respective beds. My husband says I am crazy, I beg to differ.

I just watched Honey lay her second egg!
She was walking around and around in the coop with this funny look on her face. Then she did a watery poop. Walked around some more sort of dazzed and then sloop! there was a little egg. I scooped it up right away, before the other girls tried to taste it. It has a very soft shell, sort of rubbery.

Will she eventually figure out the nest box?
She didn't even try to get into the nest box or really even squat or stop walking.

It's OK to eat, right?

I think I'll crack it open when I get home from work today.
It's very soft like a snake egg.
When I held it up to the light I couldn't see a yolk....so we'll see.

I'd go ahead and crack it open and check it out. Maybe they need some more calcium in their diet for a harder shell? What are you feeding them right now?

GOT MY 1st EGG !!!
Yeah, I got my first egg. The girls are 25 wk. 3 days old.
Wow, I didn't think it would be this exciting but it is! I went out this a.m. at 7 and checked water, food, etc. It's the coldest day we've had yet ( 17 degrees ) so I decided to not open up the coop for them, and be safe put vaseline on their combs. While taking care of that, my SLW was very busy looking instead of panic stricken thinking she was next for a hold. So I left home for about 2 hours and came back to check and there it was! I had to take a double take.
I am thinking it must be her. It's a beautiful egg. Nice shell, form and size. Probably a med. or large small. I don't have a scale.
I thought this day would never come! So to all you out there, there is still hope!
