My husband built me a homemade hatcher today! I found this computer fan on ebay and was wondering if it would work for a hatcher? My husband is at work or I would just ask him. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Also, another question. If this fan does not work, what will I need the temp to be in the hatcher for lockdown? I guess it would be considered still air. My incubator has a fan, so I know that temp should be 99.5.

I was wondering if I am not able to use the fan in the hatcher, would it be considered still air and would I have to increase the temp? Is still air the same as forced air? Sorry, I'm new to using an incubator. I used to just let the hens do it, but I thought this would be fun!!

Yes, I guess it would be considered still air. You don't need to go on eBay. Go down to Eadio Shack or to the corner computer store. When I bought one two weeks ago I saw that the computer store had the same fans at different prices. The difference was one was fancy retail packaging and the other was in a baggie. I bet you could find a used computer fan at Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Generally, a computer fan is 12V. You can use an old power converter to supply power to it.

I agree. Goodwill, garage sales, etc are excellent places to find used parts for a homemade incubator.

This is the best thread I've found on wiring up your computer fan to your bater. It really helped me when I did both of mine. Here ya go

Thank you all so much. I found one on ebay for about 2.00 which included shipping. That link is awesome. Tells me exactly how to wire it.
