Will this work as substitute for pine shavings

These are hardwood shavings. Untreated. I have unlimited free access to it. Would it work in the coop or would it cut the chickens feet

Yes, I use hardwood shavings left from our firewood cutting, and woodworking shop.

It breaks down a bit faster than pine shavings because but they work just as well in the coop and run. Since they are free, it’s a win win!

Young chicks do seem to want to try eating it so be careful with that.

I use hardwood shavings from a local wood turner too they're great! I use them in conjunction with arborist chunky chips
