will tylan work for chickens with respiratory infections?

i asked and they have it at cvs, so can i use the ones for humans or do the syringes have to be special for chickens.

Hopefully you already found needles and syringes you needed at CVS.

If not. Do you have any friend or family that are diabetic? Insulin syringes are not marked in CC's, they are marked in "units" but you can measure out the does into something small (like a clean bottle cap and draw it into an insulin syringe. Pharmacies have syringes with needles , you might need an RX but pharmacists can actually use their discretion to dispense them. Another place to try is a 24 emergency vet office, they seldom treat chickens so they would not be loosing business.

Duramycin 10 (tertracycline) is water soluble but the problem is that a sick bird might not get the necessary dose. So I give it in a 10 cc syringe of water. It cheap and has a long shelf life.

I use VetRX poultry Remedy. It's old school, it won't cure a clod but it really does clear up the nasal discharge. The directions for it's multiple uses are inside the box.

thanks every one and i already got the needles, i was wondering for how many days are the eggs uneatable?

Have a 2 year old 4 lb Araucana and she has frothy white bubbles in both eyes. I have 26 chickens and so far she is the only one with this. I have had High levels of ammonia as the days are now getting warmer. And wondering if I should use tylan as a precaution. She is now in the house isolated from the other chickens. Would also want to know how other chicken caregivers in MI are able to keep ammonia levels down. We are ventilated well but the litter in the coop has to come out but the weather is still to cold to do a total clean out.
