But Friday? 'Tis another story.

Maybe that's the appeal of shopping on T-giving Day -- look, all these bargains and everyone too intoxicated from eating turkey to crowd the store! Still, I wouldn't show my approval for the custom by shopping on such a special national holiday.

Remember that stores are open because of demand in a lot of cases.
Grocery stores will be filled with people complaining that the employees have to work, but have their carts full.

Besides, I got paid triple time to work a holiday.

Our local independent grocer (Molsberry's) is open a half day, for busy or non-cooking (!) folks to pick up a whole meal prepared by the deli. The girl I talked to said she and the others working are young and will go to parents' homes for dinner so they won't miss anything. (lol she doesn't know how fun/bonding the cooking can be).
And one 'kid' I talked to years ago said he was happy to be there on triple time. I don't know if the independent ones pay that.
Happy Thanksgiving All!!!

I wont be shopping, but I bet my dh will be scanning the sales for something good.He can go out if he wants.I am not going ANYWHERE once the kids are home from school on Tuesday.

I want to start stocking up with food and supplies,so I don't have to go out in a winter storm to get pet food or a perfect gift. I want to stay home as much as possible and *hibernate* till spring. I am not a winter person at all.

I work in medicine (Emergency dept) and my other job is at a vet. clinic. Holidays are bumped around depending on which job I'm working on which day. I try to remember that I am helping others when I feel grumbly about working a holiday. But, I don't believe stores should force employees to work holidays. Either stay closed, close early or give the employees an option if they wish to work or not (or give the a choice as to which holiday they would rather work) and go from there.
To all of you working the holidays this year - Thank you!
And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, wherever you spend it!

No, I will not be shopping, I will be working.

In a perfect world I would be home with my family on the holiday. But people do not stop getting sick just because it is Thanksgiving or Chrismas, although I wish they did because then they could be home with their families also!

Also, please remember to pray for the military men and women (and their families) who are overseas and will not be together for the holidays... And Happy Thanksgiving to all my BYC friends, as well
