wind, wind, WIND...........

It's 52 here in SW Arkansas right now, although it feels colder with the wind. Still, the weather channel is insistent that we will be getting 1 to 2 inches of snow this evening.
Won't bother me if it snows knee deep to a giraffe tonight. I have every thing I hold dear right here with me, warm and snuggly in the house - DH, Jax, the kitties. The chickens all look like drowned rats from being out in the wind and rain all day, but sooner or later they'll wise up and go to their coop.
Merry Christmas!

Correction: I just checked the weather channel again and it's down to 49. Bring on the snow (then make it disappear the day after Christmas

Mine seem to fight constantly, but bored and tired is the worst combination. I thought I would skip the hormonal mood changes having boys, but the almost 12 year-old has proved me wrong. We hate him, pick on him constantly, and his brother is hideous and horrible...twelve is such a grand age!

mom'sfolly :

Tammy, it'll get to you. The weather bug 1/4 mile from my house has been hovering around 35-36* for the last several hours. I admit the flurries looked awful hail like, but didn't have hail weather with them. The wind is at least 20 mph, gusting much higher. I've been picking up small branches all day.

I've loved the glorious fall we've had. I think God was rewarding us for surviving the summer. And yes, I will take this any day over 105* for 60 days running.

Well darn, now I'd better go out and give the chickens a once-over before we get colder. It's still 55 here, but the wind is very cold.

This fall has been great!

We had nothing but RAIN and 43 degrees. Hoped for some snow but looks like we might not. DD wants some!

We were supposed to have a white Christmas but it looks like it's just going to be a wet gloomy one as usual.

Nope, I like heat, it's why we moved back down south!!! Not ash, it was snow, just not flakes. The little balls that form from flakes when it's windy at cloud level. I wasn't a happy camper when I checked everything this morning because of the frozen white precipitate, I think I could have made a sailor blush

(Lived in Chicagoland for 5.5 years...... not a snow or cold person either, don't really care for it at all)

Sun came out for a little bit but the wind still rages on, had a wind break of lumber on the side of one coop knocked over at one point. Got it fixed but my hands dern near froze. Silkies are back outside in a better/safer structure and were nice enough to give me 2 eggs today instead of the usual 1. The precip past just north of us by a few miles, have friends 12 miles up that have had a dusting already though most of it has been blown away.
Temps have hovered around 36 to 39 so far, betting the wind chill is around 28 or so.

So how long until spring????????????????????????

My weather bug says the wind chill is twenty one, but the wind is down from earlier. My eyes are starting to itch and my nose to run. The wind has stirred up the cedar. ARGGHHHH!!!!! I hate cedar season, the weather is lovely, but the great outdoors is in full attack mode.

You were right!! It's freaking cold now!!

But thanks for the heads-up 'cause I got the chickens and horse fed early.

When the wind started up here last couple of weeks, I went and bought about a half dozen clear colorless heavyweight plastic shower curtains and covered the entire four walls of the run with them. The curtains are six feet by six feet and were a perfect fit for my six-foot high run. The temp inside the run is not any different than outside, but there's NO wind, NO drafts, NO debris or dust flying around.
