Funny story... when I was digging up an unwanted bush, I found these:

And I thought.... ohhhh wild garlic or onion! I google image searched it and it kept coming back as garlic. I cut a little piece and sniffed it. Didn't smell like anything. So I took a nibble. It tasted HORRIBLE!

Turns out I just nibbled on Lily bulbs. 🤣
I love the smell of wild onions when we mow! If you replant them you'll have lily's next year🥰

That rain water barrel/nipple waterer looks PERFECT omg!! We want to do that too but all we have is the gutter up and spout.

You've given us ideas :D

What did you do with the rat snake?
I'm pretty happy with the way the rain water system turned out! Of course, we haven't had rain since I hooked it all up...

I pulled that big boy off the coop and just let him go. Figured he couldn't get in so he can stick around and eat mice and rats.

Looks like all 18 chickens are a more cohesive bunch! There's still obvious cliques separating the littles and bigs (they're all the same size now so I suppose I should stop calling them little).

My Special hen has stopped terrorizing the pullets so I guess that means the pecking order has been established. I'm so relieved!

We had a huge storm the other night and somehow 3 inches of rain filled up my entire 55 gallon rain barrel! Dang!

I also have a prediction.. I think my marans will be the first to lay in this brood of 8. They both have the cutest little wattles and seem to be maturing much faster than the others.

Look at these cute wattles!

I hope they are, but you have some pea comb chicks and if any have muffs and beard they won't get wattles at all. Pea combs make it seem like they aren't maturing near as fast and a chick with a straight comb because you can actually see the progression. The youngest one of my Marans started laying was 5 months, the oldest 6 1/2. Either way you should have a whole bunch of new egg colors by this fall😊

Yeah those pea combs are tricky. I remember staring at my Easter Eggers last year trying to figure out if they were ever going to mature. Only 2 out of the 8 have pea combs.
