My Ancona stopped laying a week and a half ago. Not sure why. It's too soon for molting, right? It's been pretty hot here.

Other than juvenile molting, I haven't experienced an adult molt yet so can't tell if that's what this is.

Update: Ancona started laying again. Guess she just needed a 2 week vacation. Don't we all!

Interesting egg collected today from one of my OGs. I washed it in case it was blood or something but nope. This is what it looks like after washing.

I suppose! I think it was my smaller Welsummer. They don't consistently lay speckled but every once in a while I get a cool egg!

I *think* one of my marans laid their first egg. I found this egg in the middle of the coop (my hens all lay in the nest boxes). It's smaller than my usual eggs and it looks like it has darker "spray paint" on it.

Here's an updated pic of the marans. My other pullets all still have smaller, paler combs.
