We rcvd 8 new point of lay hens yesterday. They are beautiful. They seem quite tall, almost swan like, compared to the 7 Hens we already have. I need to trim their wings as they seem keen to fly out of the enclosure at every opportunity.
I seem to remember we trimmed just one side of wing feathers with my older hens.
Is it ok to trim both sides?
would they still be able to flutter up to roost at night?

Hi, if you just trim the feathers of one wing it puts them off balance so they can't fly in a straight line. This is what you want to keep them from escaping. And yes they should be able to get up to roost if it is not too high.

Thank you for the advise. We will just do the one side then👍🏻
