Oh, they are good books, the movie was awful.

Minus the awesome effects, mostly yes.
Did you see the end? Did the parents once even think about their other son? Nope! Just Soren.
No wonder he was evil! Bad parenting. tsk tsk, favoritism...

Plus they didn't stick with the book as well as I would have liked.

Have you ever read the books? In the book, the other son murdered his parents, tried to murder his brother numerous times, and his sister. I never saw the movie but i read the books. The movie was a fail because it was 5-year-old friendly.
