Winter Quilt Block Swap 2013

All the blocks are beautiful. I may very well be out of my league here. I will do a block & if you don't like it just let me know.
Oh hon, don't even think on that! Mine isn't complicated, it just looks that way! Even a 9-patch is cool, so your gonna be just fine! I hope your first quilt block swap is an enjoyable experience for you. IF we only wanted professional quilters, I'd have stipulated it. I want other nice BYC folks who happen to also quilt, or make blocks, to share their talents with us.

Chicklet, you will be fine! I have been doing this a while, but I don't think I could venture to Marty's block...that looks mind boggling to me, but wonderful!

I have seen one similar and if I remember it was called a spiderweb or kaleidoscope? It did not have the star in the middle & was paper pieced. I did one for my son when I first started quilting. I looked pretty but I was new to quilting & some of the fabrics I used were not good quality (just scraps from whatever).

I agree with everyone else. Don't let inexperience daunt you. This is how you learn. I sponsored a crochet swap and four of the people signed up were students in the 8th grade and they did just great. They felt like they couldn't do it but we encouraged them to try and they were fine. Chicklet, you'll do fine.
I have my fabric together now. The main fabric has blue snowflakes on it, the second fabric is blue and the third white. When I get the first block done I will post a photo. I hope to start cutting out tomorrow.

Mine will probobly be cloth backed on the small strips, just so they will stay put, and we won't all have to deal with bunches at the sewing edges. I promise, it will make it easier for us all. Mine really isn't that complicated. Its a great way to use up little and thin strips left over from projects. I ebayed some starry silver whie windy look material for the white star center, but most of it is just several years woth of blues, whites, silvery, and sparkly material. Its funny how something visually can look hard, but just like everything, its one step at a time (and line up those points so they meet! LOL)

I'm loving every block, and I'm sure I'd love any others yet to be offered.

We're the BYC QUILTING CLUB!

Hi everyone,

I finished two blocks today and took a photo so you could see what I'm doing. Hope you like it. It's a simple block to do with three rows and ends up being a nine patch.
