Winter Quilt Block Swap 2013

So sorry Marty, that is devastating. I am really careful when out with my chickens as I know my dogs would be in the run in a heartbeat. I am glad they are out there though, as the neighbor dogs that run loose would be back there in a heartbeat if mine weren't. I could not imagine letting my dogs run....

Marty, so so sorry to hear about your loss. Will show your post to my neighbour who has just had his beautiful cockral killed by a husky!

Hi everyone.

Had two bad dogs work very hard to dig under our perimeter fence yesterday. From their they breached 3 other pens, killing exhibition buff and grey dewlap toulosue, and sebastopol geese. Also Muscovey, Khaki Campbell, and Ancona pairs. Our Thanksgiving turkey, and a bourben red girl. And, our lone adult rooster (bless his brave soul). Lost 50 birds, with replacement costs over $4000. Ironically, our fences were so good, that they couldn't find their way back out. They are in police custody now.

(huge sigh)
I am sooooooo sorry about your birds. Who owns the dogs? I just feel so bad

So sorry about your loss, I hope the owners of the dogs will have to pay replacement cost, but I know that won't replace your sadness over the loss of your birds

Hi,
I lost my big RIR roo today, he was an old man, and really thought he was something Golden Girl (Buff) stayed by his side for a little bit like she was checking on him. I don't know why he died he was fine all day yesterday and I went to check them this morning and let them out and he was taking his last breath in the pen. I do have his son and daughter so that is the bright spot in this. Wow the king of the yard is gone.
