Winter Quilt Block Swap 2013

Hello All,

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Since school let out for our winter break we've had snow and cold weather. I did NOT sign up for this in OK! My mom and teenager came out to spend time with us for the holiday. On the first morning here we had fresh fried eggs (of course!) and bacon (teeanager's favorite!) and would you belive it? I broke a toe on my left foot when the tupperware bread container dropped on my foot. Well, we went shopping at the mall on the 24th anyway. Thankfully our mall is only one level! I had a great time with my Mom here, and she and I got the material for her blocks for the swap. After that nice incident, it snowed! Twice! So, it's been icy and snowy outside and needless to say, not SAFE for my poor hobbling outside. I told mom I'd sew up here blocks since I'm holed up in the house and can't walk well on ice.

The chickens are weathering better than I in the cold weather. My boys went out and shoveled the snow in their coop so they could walk around and scratch. The dear daughter has been feeding them for me, and hubbie has been collecting eggs. I sure hope I'm a little more mobile when school starts back up. I tried to convince the hubbie I needed the hot rod red scooter with off road wheels and a horn. He laughed and looked me in the eye and said no. Hmpphhhh. Well, I guess there is no better time to have to elevate a broken bone then when you are already off work!!

I hope all your holidays are wonderful and filled with family, lots of food, and laughter and love! Those are the best times and great memories. Here is our 2nd annual gingerbread build competition. We usually have boys vs. girls teams. It's lots of fun, and we find ourselves peeking at the other to get ideas to make ours better.

Well abbynormal, your name is working for you

I don't know anyone who can break a toe with tupperware, but then I have not tried it. I agree with your hubby on the scooter, you might find your self in a full body cast

love the houses well house and train and glad you had a nice time with your visiting family, we were supposed to get the wintery mix but just tried to flood us out, and now it is sleeting, I really don't like the cold, unless I go to it, I don't like it coming to me because I usually tire of it long before it goes away. Hope you get to feeling better quick. OH I have 9 new babies,
here is a pic, they were hatched mostly on the 24, but some the 25th.

Hi everyone! I am looking for some Icelandic eggs for spring, anyone want to sell me some?

Abby sorry you can't get around, I hate that. I had a sprained akle and couldn't put a shoe on for four months!! I think it was more then that.

Abby, if those heavy ones catch you just right, you can actually break two toes!!! When I ran a cake shop, I did just that. It was summer, and I wore flip flops to haul in the grocery stuff for the week. I sat out a large tupperware storage container, and it fell of the counter and broke my 3 and 4 toes. Who knew???

I have no idea where to find icelandic chickens.

My gosh, I can't imagine going without a shoe for 4 months, unless it's summer! I suppose it's bound to happen sometime with my clumsiness! My doc was nice enough to tell me to stay off of it and not to break anything else! Today is the first day that it's been above freezing so the snow is melting. It's now slushy outside, equally treacherous for my limping. Oh well, I do have one week left of being out of school, however I don't think I can stand being house bound too much longer! I have been sewing up some un-finished projects that I started, well a while ago ;) so that is a bonus.

katsdar, the babies are adorable! My hubbie and I have been talking about hatching out some of our eggs this year to increase the flock. The stinky Marans have stopped laying, or one is eating them. I can't tell and frankly it's been too cold to sit in the pen with them to figure it out! What breed are they? They are adorable, I know I said that, but it's true!

I have two blocks left to do and square up the rest. I hope to finish by this weekend and will PM for address Marty.

Here is a photo of my new kitty, Mindy, 4 months old. You can see why I don't get much quilting done.
