Winter waterer

How do you keep your quail watered in freezing weather? I gave them an open dish when their nipple setup froze but they just tip it over and get their bedding wet.

I give a bowl of warm water 2x a day

I've heard that some people use aquarium heaters. I don't have to worry about it in my climate, fortunately.

This will be my first winter with quail, but so far I think I’ll continue giving them the 500ml yogurt containers as I have been. They’re just big enough when I tuck them into a corner that they can’t easily tip them, and when they’re empty enough to be light enough to tip, there’s not much water left in them. Lol. I don’t have that many birds in there though so probably not well suited to larger numbers. I’ll only have a max of 10 in my pen at any given time.
I did have a small heated bowl for barn cats that may be of use for quail if it’s set up in such a way they can’t tip it...
