Has anyone ever used wire cloth for their chicken coop? I want/need to fix/replace the grass in our yard and can't have the chickens tearing up the grass while it's still young or eating seeds before they sprout. My coop is raised off the grass by about 1.5 inches because of the wheels so I wanted to put 1x1 in welded wire on the bottom of the coop so they still have green grass they can eat without scratching up the grass while I try to get the sod or seed to root. I do have neighbors to be concerned about and besides that this grass at this house has really ****** me off from day one. I let my chickens free range right now and they haven't damaged the grass since so I think once the grass takes root I can let them loose in the yard again.
