our yard is not finished, and we are planning on redoing it soon. We don’t wanna chicken coop to be 100% permanent so we can move it when we redo our yard. originally we were going to pour concrete and have industrial wire that goes a foot into the ground, but we were thinking just putting industrial wire on the ground in the chicken coop/run. Would it be bad for the chickens to walk on that? We could put dirt on top of it, if that would help. I’m just not sure if it’s OK to put industrial wire on the ground in the chicken run.

What is reason you want the industrial wire??? Do you have known burying predators??
I would just put apron on exterior perimeter if so, with the digging predators. 2 foot out is usually sufficient. Does not need to be buried very deep ether.

we do have lots and lots of predators like raccoons, and i thought you had to bury the apron a foot deep, and a foot out, so this would be easier!

Raccoons will find ways to enter other ways. Digging would be last option. But if you have diggers,,, the apron does not need to be 1 foot deep. Maybe if you have prairie dogs or digging ground squirrels?? :idunno Both of those are not in dangerous predator to chickens category.
Many cops have apron just below the surface, and 2 feet out. When an animal starts to dig, the barrier is encountered very soon. The animals do not have the IQ to start further away from the enclosure fence.
