Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Gol darn that is the cutest fluffy chicken! Carol - you sure have some awesome looking birds!

Well, I set my first eggs today. Chicken math is really kicking my hinder... found the incubator and the eggs on MWT for 40.00. One of those Styrofoam still air incubators. The eggs included were a mix. There's some mix of orpington, wyandotte, leghorn, brahama, and brown sex linked. Mostly orpington wyandotte crosses is what the ad said. 30, yep THIRTY of them total... sigh.

Hey Jim - keep your eyes peeled, I still am super interested in getting some peafowl!

Did anyone decide on where the bash is going to be? Either the 1st or 8th is good for me. I have no problems with those others joining us either.

FT, love your dog. And why, oh why, do people insist on tearing down barns?!?!?!?!? Are they nuts??????

I WANT!!!!!!!

Cind, it was me. I didn't specify this week, just sometime since we're pretty close by, so no pressure.

If DH & I are riding around on the bike in your area sometime, we could swing by. I hope Ruddy works out for you. Your chicks are so cute, and I know how frustrating it is to try to get a non-fuzzy shot of them. I had to take at least 20 pics to get one good one when my gals were little.

Good for you, DrH. You can never have enough chicken coops.

Those BAs are such easy-going & well mannered birds. So is B2 hiding a nest on ya? Wish I had fesh cukes & beans this year.........

BBP, I agree with Jim. Those neighbors are just being petty. Prolly are chronic complainers. Since that is the case, I'd definitely get a barking dog. Maybe it'll drown out the roos crowing.

The next time someone tells you they'd like to come & shoot your roo, tell em to go ahead & try; you need some target practice.

I'd love your friendly roo, BTW. He's beautiful! And he'd sure look nice with my Aussies. I wish I lived closer.

TO, I never heard of the paranormal activity at Bong either. That site did have some interesting historical info, though. Sorry to hear about your horse.

Amy, good luck with the eggs, all of them.

Kris, cute pics! Beautiful daughter you have!

DK, you could try to make your coop & run a fall/winter project and get chicks in the spring. I know that seems like forever, but you could use the extra time to plan things out & really be prepared, &/or surf CL for kennel panels/fencing for the run? I'm glad to hear someone showed to help the calf.

Raim, I think I would have told him where he could put that net. There's no way I'd let someone chase my chickens around with a net. I'm happy you sold some, though. And congrats on the washer.

SOUTHERN BASH INFO:

From the 5 or so responses I've gotten it looks as though Oct 1st and 8th are the weekends that don't conflict in any way with things folks have planned...

PLEASE SEND ME YOUR VOTE FOR THE DATE SO WE CAN TRY TO GET THIS MEET UP AND GOIN!

Thanks
Deb

CC no...no one helped the Calf... I was asking if there was someone I could call to investigate to make sure the poor little guy is okay, he looked in terrible distress!

Anyone who knows who I might call please shoot me a PM...

Thanks
Deb

Afternoon All!

Kristi-your little silkie looks loke a roo to me too. His comb and waddles look very rooster-ish. His tail set in the first photo looks very rooster-ish too, but I'm not used to silkies so that might be a normal silkie thing. Cute DD by the way!

BBP-beautiful birds! Thanks for posting the pics! Love them!!!

Raim-your a nicer person then I am-I would have booted that guys butt of my property if he chased my chickens all over the place with a net. That was super disrespectful of him. I'm sorry about the little duckling.... Congrats on the dishwasher! Someday I might get one....when I ever find the room and the money to remodel the kitchen that is!

Dornes-have fun incubating those eggs! The first batch is always the funnest! I had something else to tell you but I can't remember it......

dk-sent your a PM about who to call for that calf.....Hope they can point you in the right direction....and the calf gets help.

Well, the Girls are going great and are starting to become Ladies since I'm getting eggs! So far I have three layers.

The bad news is that one of my Orloffs is a rooster. He'll be a beautiful bird once he molts but he'll have to go soon I think. He's at that ugly stage and all then hens pick on him, especially Super Glue. She will eventually become the dominant hen.

Ok, gotta run and do some more laundry

Chat soon!

Wasn't he on a farm? Couldn't you go to the farm house?

It's a dueling banjos kinda looking place if you get my drift! Not a farm, looks like an old office building, no barns, sheep fenced right up to the bldg whatever it is, house? and now this little calf... always about 20 different cars there (never seem to be the same ones), real scarey looking folks the couple of times we've seen them. And the critters over all don't look well cared for.

Alone I just didn't feel like I wanted to drop in ... because of my temper really, I feared they'd be one of those who would say, "nuthing wrong with him, he'll be fine..." and then the Irish temper would have peaked and the fight would be on! LOL

Sheriffs dept is sending a guy out to check on the little guy... thank goodness.

Thanks to you and MLH for the pms
