Morning all,
Well, it happened again. Had a huge post with tons of replies. Then POOF !!!! So I'll keep it short and sweet, or not so sweet. Bad news again here. Something got one of my guinea hens the other day. She was sitting on eggs in some tall weeds. Not to far away from one of my Great Pyrenees that is tied out all night. Guess those critters aren't so dumb. There were tons of feathers like something grabbed ahold of it and just pulled. They were all in a big clump. Bet she put up a good fight sticking to those eggs.
There were 12 salvagable eggs that I candled and they had just started to develop. I put them in a nest box in Camper Coop #2 where the guineas sleep most of the time. (sometimes they sleep over in coop #3)
I feel real guilty not putting them in the bator. I haven't cleaned it out yet and I wasn't going to hatch any more. I may cave in yet today.
I'm hoping one of the guinea hens will see the eggs and start setting
I'm down to 6 guineas out of the 11 or so I started with. I thought they were suppose to be the lookout watch poultry !!!
Good thing I have tons in the brooders and eight week old keets. Now just where to put them to keep them safe !!!! Now I need watch chickens to watch the lookout watch Guineas !!!
Well, lots to do today, gotta go out of town tonight to a baptism in the morning !!
Jim, watch out for snakes, they like that tall grass hanging out next to the house !!!! Chuck found one the other day right under the bedroom window. Sure am glad the holes the cat made in the screen are only tiny ones !!!
Catch up later
