Wow,

That royally pisses me off !!!! I too would call the sheriffs department and ask for the incident report. If you send me the info I'll call. I would also make it a point to drive by on a regular basis and check things out !! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR .
Good thing it wasn't me that saw that !!! I'd have to be bailed out of someplace !!!!

What township was this in? Do you know the names of the Amish farm? Pm me if you want to. I am buying a cart from an amish man and I've boughten harness's from them. I would definately not do business with that family.

Was it a draft horse or ???

G*d D*m that ticks me off !!!

FT-if you do ever jump to the horses rescue like that, call me, I'll bail you out! I would have been right next to you taking the whip to those boys. That really chaps my hide that the Amish can mistreat animals the way they do and they seem to get away with it. When I lived in TN one of the worst puppy mills ever raided was on an Amish farm. They were like, their just dogs....Seriously?!!?!!?....."just dogs" so it's completely ok to torture them and have them live in torment? It was not the biggest puppy mill just the worse. The biggest was in Hickman Co TN. A year before I moved there, the humane society and animal control raided a puppy mill . They took in over 700 dogs and that was the biggest rescue ever done in TN.
It sucks that it is common for Amish see horses as a piece of farm equipment and not living breathing creatures that deserve respect. Same with the dogs, just farm equipment or a means to raise money. Double grrrrrrr.....

Hi all--I think I know that farm...my parents have a cottage just off of 21 in Washara County...I will have to check it out next time I go up there! I would have been out of my truck and on their butts! For people to be called "horse whisperers" almost across the board, like Jim said, that is sure an odd way of whispering! Makes ya wonder...
SO I am going to finally bite the bullet and bake some GF bread for supper! I think I will make flatbread and then top it with some bruschetta I canned last year...or maybe I will top with eggplant and cheese...oh the possibilities!
I have got to keep a close eye on those cukes in the garden too...now I want to try DrH's B&B recipe (since I seem to have misplaced Grandma's!

) and then tweek that one or look for a new one to make. For all of you other canning folk; there is a thread on BYC called "what are you canning now" that I participated heavily in last summer. They post some amazing recipes for canning (that's where I got the bruschetta recipe) Several of the people sell their stuff at markets and shops. I was directed to some fantastic blogs! Yup, just what I needed more to read on the puter! Check it out, but dont say I didnt warn you!
I just heard that the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" brought in 54 mil over the weekend?!!! CRIPE--I always thought those movies were pretty creepy...the new one must be REALLY creepy!
THe beagle is picking up a metal dish and dropping it--think she's hungry? How can dogs tell time with no watch anyhow? Off to feed critters....again....Terri O

I give you alot of credit, TO. That must have been difficult to have to adjust to (going GF). I'm sure it probably gets easier over time, but that has got to be challenging nevertheless.

Anyone have any plans for stacked nesting boxes? I am looking to make something along the lines of this one on POST 21 in this thread.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=173767&p=3

The
part we (hubby and I) are not understanding is how to get the boards in for the bottom of each row. Or how the heck to fasten something like that... what is that called and how do we do it? Anyone??

About the horse. - I seriously would have sat there until the sheriff showed up and I would have stayed on the phone until they sent someone out. REDIC!!!!!!!

Evening All....In regards to the Amish abusing an animal like that...I would of came unglued....out of my truck and their whips in my hand....the lecture would of been loud and clear...I assure you'all ! Some of the Amish are terrible animal mistreaters.

The poor horse never learned a lesson from that....however they would from me!

Went to Nueskes Meats for their bacon pieces sale....2 ten lb boxes for $30. They sold two pallets before 10am and were sold out, the lady said folks were in line before they opened...they open at 8am. Lady took our order and is suppose to call when they have more. 20lbs for us and 20lbs for the roofing guy. Good stuff that last's the whole year for beans, soups, omlets, pizza or whatever.

Havin a frozen pizza with a bunch of added toppings...they aren't so bad when you give them a makeover....

Talk later....I hate mean people, even though I know I shouldn't.

Jim,
Its better to post on the Janesville CL or LaCrosse, or Milw... people have had to post horses for sale on all the others for months, since some @$$ hat liked to flag the ads.
I have seen chickens for sale there though... PM me the details and I can post it for you if you like.

I would have beaten those boys with in an inch of their lives, and not with a whip. I would have cut the horse free and then sat there with my cell phone with the police dispatcher ON the line and waited.
I think we need to call Yoders and tell them we will tell everyone to boycott them IF the boys don't turn themselves in.. OR if the church doesn't do anything about it.

We finally got our lawn mower working again, its the float, we will have to have it replaced.. yippee.
There is a serious virus going around that causes salmonella and or dysentery like symptoms and can last for up to 2 weeks, 2 of our friends and our barn owner have it, DH has had it for over a week and went to the DR. today.
Got our pork today, gave some to a friend and brought some home, the rest in in my barn owner's freezer being stored.

SO I can't get the two ponies to come up and eat, they did for about 2 days, now won't come up. I am spreading the food around, and they won't even come up to eat now..
There is some pasture they can eat, and some areas my mares won't eat in... so I am not too worried.. but this is ridiculous.
Any thoughts?
Carol
