Well, FT, I hate to have to break it to you, but if you don't have any roosters, you're not going to hatch many eggs.

Well, I finally am caught up with reading again. Whew! Now I forgot half of it & have 2 cats pawing at my arm for food. Guess I'll post tomorrow.

I did remember one thing: this chicken chat room is turning into a horse-for-sale/craig's list room?

Night all, and sweet dreams!

EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS?????? Am I the only one who think that is a wee bit nuts? What the heck is a teacup pig anyhow? If mama is 25lbs., that is one heckuva teacup!
Do not show this to my DH, BTW. He loves pigs.
Now stop your enabling for one day, FT!

Early good morning all! Was in bed at 8:00 last night, all that cool fresh air wore me out. Knew going to bed so early would have me up before God, but...

Walmart...ugh. I avoid the place like the plague whenever possible, although I did have to resort to buying my scrubs there. I refuse to support them for a lot of reasons. Just about the only company I like less than walmart is Monsanto, but that's another story.

Have to say I was shocked and appalled to hear about the abuse of the horse by the Amish. I simply cannot understand people who think it's okay to abuse critters. Agree with FT, maybe it's time to turn up the heat on law enforcement where animal mistreatment is concerned. Just an observation here, but I've noticed a general lack of outrage in the past 15 years or so in the general population in regards to a wide range of unacceptable behavior and injustices. It's like society has become so "ME" centered that what happens to others is of no concern to them.

MLH agree... no more posting cute pics of mini horses. I too am smitten by them and want one... and some mini goats and a mini cow... they are all so dang adorable, how can you not want them?

Raim... thought at first you were asking if anyone wanted your sore feet

Well photos are finally downloaded (went out with camera for an hour and a half yesterday morning) so I'm off to see if anything good came of it. Have a great day all!

Morning/Evening all!

OK.... I don't remember all I was going to say last night... I did try to describe how I built my nest boxes because they are much like the ones shown. Sorry, not doing it again! I have decided that since my birds have taken to laying UNDER the nest box, I'm going to rip it apart and make small, stackable ones like Jim was talking about.

Sucks about the horse beaters! I caught my little cousin hitting her pony in the head with a stick once....
somad.gif
her butt learned what it felt like! She was told if she EVER hit a horse or pony again, she would never ride again! She said it was biting .... we taught her how to take care of that without hitting. My (Great) Uncle was far from a horse whisperer but he often took care of "problem" horses.
Jim.... I think I got Hubby talked into that grinder!

Just don't know when I can get it... looks like it will be a tight month

That's all I remember from yesterday

DrH... I like the idea of putting chicken recipes on the walls of the coop

hehehe

That reminds me... I was poking around on the "Meat Bird" thread and found this.... you may have seen it... if not, good read...

Jim... Still hatching turkeys? Going to be kinda puny come Thanksgiving aren't they? 3 months? How fast do they grow?

MLH... sounds like you had a great mare, too bad you had to loose her so soon... colic is H3LL on horses!

raim... How much are the shirts? Not sure I could do one this month, but maybe beginning of next month. Good Luck with them!

Jasmine and the chicks are doing well and getting so big! The Keets and Ameraucanas are getting big too! I got to get that run up this week! Ruddy is on probation... still wants to chase the cats (but not the kitten) and he attacked Duke a couple of times when Duke was just laying there. I know he naturaly would put himself ahead of Duke in the pack, and Duke is OK with that, he doesn't have to be reminded!

The kitten (Isis) is doing fine. That tiny little thing stood up to Ruddy so he leaves her alone! I wish the older cats would do that! LOL
Great weather!!!

Beautiful Cool Morning All! This is my kind of weather. Once again I've had it with Buster! Think Friday he'll be breasted out. Also hope it takes some of the stress off the hens. Fric and Frac are big enough now to butcher. Gonna leave them whole. The relish is going in the jars this morning and think that that's going to be the last of the canning. There I go thinkin again.
lol.png
TO glad to hear the unsealed jars taste like pickles! Can't imagine their very crisp? Like I said 5 minutes for a qt and 3 minutes for pints in the nuker and replace the lids. I've gotten good results, they all sealed. Need to get the carrots and onions in the freezer yet. The last thing will be the maters but those are easy. All the rest of the veggies will be given a good home, good to be in someone else home

I need a vacation from retirement!
