YOU ARE IN SOOOOOO MUCH TROUBLE CC!!! O.M.G. Those cows are beyond adorable....I noticed that the calf on the sale page, Noah is moving to Wisconsin. CC? Do you have some splanin' to do???? OR is that FT's doing. Mawahaahahahahaah!!
I'd take a jersey in a heart beat. Swissies are cute too.

Cind--just read that article about chicken. Thanks for pointing it out. It was very interesting! Now I might take a look at some of my old freeloaders...might be time to try some of that old fowl. Gee, that might make room for some more chickens...or at least enough room for what I've got. Another nest of Muskovies hatched today; she is walking around with 22 babies! Got to be my record. I am not sure if she has claimed some of yesterday's hatch for her own though. That mom still has 11 so? Who knows!
This afternoon a black broody under the workbench came out with the cutest chick...looks like she is abandoning the rest of the eggs--I need a little kid to get under there and see what there is! (not that I NEED any more!)
Still the camera is AWOL--I am beginning to worry...

Evening all!

nonsuch-I am so sorry about your dog and chickens. My red Aussie was raised with chicks, chickens and a pair of domestic mallards. He never looked at them crossways. One day the drake was just standing preening and Sax walked by doing Sax things and BAM! Wrung the drakes neck with out a thought and continued on like nothing happened. Never killed a bird before or after that incident. He gets to see the chickens but just ignores them......

H&R- I loooove surprises!!!!

kristi-I don't know the person selling the silkies, but if you decide you want them, let me know, I'd be happy to check them out for you if you need me to. I'm not too far from Stoughton. About 15 mins away. Or if you decide to get some I can pick them up for you and meet you some where if that helps. I don't know where New Glarus is though.

TO- I still want to tell you something. It visited my gray matter and then left. I even told my dh about it!....I'll have to ask him if he knows what I need to remember!!! It's nice to have a back up brain....

I believe Dane Co was stated by others rather early on. I have to go back and read but I believe your correct. But keep up the suggestions, I only have heard from three so far and any direction helps so we can get a site to have the Bash.
I have some of my first ever Snow White cherry tomatoes just ripening and they are gooood. So sweet! They are like eating candy! LOVE THEM!! They are an heirloom (at least I ordered them as such!) if anyone wants seeds? Or your driving by Albion and want to try some? Let know!!!

So for the Bash, my dh wanted to make sure that he gets a spot on the calendar of events to "speak" on the possibility of us Cheese heads creating the AHRA. The American Hen Racing Association. He feels that this is the next big world wide sporting event and he wants in on the Ground Floor. He has been reviewing riveting race footage from the World Hen Racing Association located in England. Dh says excitedly: " There are videos on youtube! Just type in "hen racing". He has come up with three very demanding but prestigious races. The Hentucky Derby, The Beakness, and the Henmont which will be collectively known as the Triple Comb. The organization that will preside over race hen pedigrees and registrations will be the Cackle Club. "Yup! Sounds good!" according to dh.

OMG MLH!!!! Did you think that up yourself or is it part of a larger joke that I am not aware of? Waaay funny. I almost dropped my corn on the cob onto my keyboard. I am going to youtube right now...there better be some vids of hen racing or I for one, will be sorely disappointed! Terri O

(PS) wonder what H&R is up to now?

okay just got back home and finished chores, both DD and DS(9) returned from camp and they are dragging!! DS(6) spent the day in Madison at the zoo and to see smurfs 3D with DH's mother and brother.

Okay so here is the surprise I talked about earlier: let me know what you all think

MLH- that is a cool idea, so how do we go about training them?????? Good thing I wasn't drinking anything at the time of reading your post or the computer would have had a shower!

MLH- your DH is an evil evil man, my husband was tapping his head, right between the eyes...
LOL

Kristi- I have the person with the silkies phone number I can call and see if they still have them. I still have that white one if you want her.

I now have three hens, on two nests and will probably loose any new eggs that my maran's lay as they like to lay in one nest box, where one hen is sitting on eggs...

We scored big off the CL tonight/today... we got three end tables, two nearly matching and are the same color and wood type as our coffee table.
And a klick/klack futon sofa for 40 dollars, they retail for over a hundred to almost 200, it looks like a normal sofa, but the arms and the back of the sofa go down to
create a bed.. SO cool!!
Have a great one.

Awwwwww!!!!!! She is so adorable, H&R! I love her, and she's so cute with those feathers on her head.

Nonsuch, I too am so sorry to hear about your dog & chickens. That is so sad.

MLH, I would be interested in some of your snow white tomato seeds sometime, pretty please. They sound divine. Good one on the hen racing.

Bigz, glad to hear peace has once again returned to the kingdom.

So Jim, did ya catch you a pole cat?

DrH, you are a canning machine! Did you find the time to put your feet up today?

DrH, can you enlighten me please? My curiousity is getting the better of me, as it always does where canning is concerned.

What a glorious weather day we had again today! I could handle this all summer long, and all winter, for that matter. The chickens & rabbits were in 7th heaven also. I was so happy to finally be able to shut off the AC & open the windows. It's bad enough having the windows closed all winter, let alone in summer too.
Yesterday, I spent a good part of the day shopping with mom. Today I spent all day weeding the gardens and that darn river again. DH mowed on Sunday & it needs it again already after that rain we had. More weeding tomorrow & planting a few stray plants that never got in, then coop cleaning & more laundry for Friday. Yippee.

Enjoy this lovely weather!
