Wow, speaking of skunks (we were, a little while ago, right?), we went out to Fleet Farm and came back only to discover that a skunk must have come under attack right next to the house, across from the barn. Good Lord, we could barely breathe getting from the barn to the house! I've never smelled something that overwhelming, and I've had my american bulldog get sprayed right in the face a couple of times. The smell was so strong that it filled the entire house, with all the doors and windows closed, in the middle of winter. I can't even fathom what it would have been like in July.
We live in an old farmhouse, and to make matters worse, something must have gotten into the wall in the back foyer and died. Fer crying out loud, it smells something terrible back there and I've looked everywhere and can't find whatever it is...
So we've been spending most of our time around here with clothing pins on our noses, and hoping that spring arrives sooner than later so that we can air the house out. I wish I could find out what the heck crawled into the walls or ceiling and passed, but I don't want to have to take the entire foyer area down with a crowbar.
Well, anyhow, we'll have chicks sooner than later, so this too shall pass. My brooder is done and the coop is in progress.
You know how I know spring is right around the corner? The snow is melted off the grass above my septic holding tank. So you can all rest assured that spring will be here soon. AND I am okay with it now.
I saw a fox this morning looking really bad. Tuffs of fur were gone. She or he was shedding out for summer! Come on spring! Wasn't happy seeing a fox a couple of miles from home but had to put a silver lining on it. Actually its the first one I've seen in this area. Geese are flying over head too! Fordmommy you will have to do your spring dance! Your snow dance worked well(16 inchs for the first snowfall for us) try your spring dance!
