I kinda figured you had two jobs, just never knew. Wish we could talk my 89 yr old aunt into letting someone come in to assist her. She wants to live and die in her home and won't think about going into assisted living. She has two dogs as well so that makes moving into an assisted living hard. Most places will only take one if any.

I just stumbled across a Vegetarian Soup Cookbook I picked up at Half Price Books. There is a recipe for Creamy Zuccinni Soup I want to try. We are getting alot of zuccinni now (About time). The recipe has zuccinni's of course, potatoes, milk, sour cream, cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Sounds Yummy. So next trip to town I'm going to get the ingredients for it !! I'm a sucker for soup and the season is coming up !!

My doctor is still in Milwaukee. I never found one up here, actually never looked !! LOL Not something you really think about until you need one !! LOL

Just thinking, wish these potatoes were bigger !!! LOL As they cool down they get smaller !!! LOL

DH ET was kind enough to nuke them for me. I think he ate the first one after he brought me the second one !!!! LOL

He got all of our railroad ties and cedar posts in the ground for our horse pasture and wouldn't you know it he needed the tractor to haul the last two ties to the holes and the starter went on the tractor !!!

He said I jinkst him cause yesterday it ran out of gas so after he filled it up it didn't want to start. The fuel line is gravity fed and the tractor was parked on a hill. I could hear him cranking and cranking and cranking it !!! I was yelling, "you're going to ruin the starter" and sure enough look what happened today !!!

I hopped on the mower yesterday and it won't start either !!!!

Good thing I wasn't the last one to use it is all I have to say !!!

The other Dixon rider is in storage. That needs about a $200 repair cause he tried to do it himself !!!

Ok I won't bore you all with all of the other stuff that isn't working right now !!!

DH had to take me to urgent care on Friday after he got home from work. I just couldn't take it anymore. My cheek even swelled up! Looked ridiculous. DH insisted on taking me to the dentist on Sat. AM for an x-ray to make sure it wasn't a tooth issue. I love him dearly but was not in the mood for that trip. Oh well.

Mmmmm, I hear you on being a sucker for soup, FT. And that zucchini recipe sounds delish! Can you send it to me if you get a chance, pretty please? One can never have enough recipes for zucchini once it starts producing.

That bread does look yummy, TO. Nothing beats fresh homemade bread.

Nice gentle rain tonight here too, and we needed it bad. Our grass is yellow. The weeds are nice and green, though.

I shouldn't have bragged about the eggs yesterday. Only got 2 today. Figures.
Mom came over & we went shopping again. Had a good time, but my sinuses were giving me grief & had alot of pressure while we were gone. Didn't get much else done today after that.

Glad my new cart is about 500lbs then add my weight to it and should keep me grounded !!!

I'm with you FT.... those little carts can be scarey! I tried to drive a sulky cart once.... you saw how short I am... couldn't get my feet/legs solid.... once the horse got going (trotting), I started sliding! Do you know how hard it is to keep control when your sliding off the cart!!!

Scarey! At least with a wagon you feel like you got a place to go if you loose control. Those little carts looked like they flew around like a sulky cart would!

Pain.... I hate pain... I think the weather changes have a part in it! Waking up and trying to move is the worse! Seems to take forever to get going! Seem to need a bigger nightcap too!

Ambien scares me... I would be one of those people up doing weird stuff and not know it!

I love homemade soup too! And that bread looks great... the kind of texture I like. How did it taste?

Ruddy must have not heard some sneaky coons in the garden last night...found some almost ripe tomatoes chewed again... but wouldn't they pull them off the vine? some were still on but had defendant teeth marks, and fair size chunks out. Whatever it is, I rather have them eat tomatoes than chickens! Ruddy dose hear things and when I let him out he checks the back (where I can't see from the house) of the coop right away. He "marks" the corner of the coop too ... good doggie! Now if I can just get him to stop chasing the cats! Oh, yesterday when my daughter and the boys were over one of the roosters chased my grandson... Ruddy saw/heard and chased the roo off! Good Doggie! Duke is still hangin' in there.... he gets a little better then DH changes his mind about putting him down. He gets bad and ...

GRRRRR!

This kitten is driving me nuts!!! She want's to play and thinks I'm either a chew toy or a climbing post! Guess I'm too old and too grumpy for a kitten... I love cats though!

Good Damp Morning All! I went back in the post to see what I wrote yesterday, I didn't wrote

I read but no wroting. Now don't remember what I read.

FT fish oil 2 to 5,000 mgs a day. The ones I have are 1,200 so I'm taking 2,400 and it has helped sooo much! Hope you and CC are feeling better soon! Boy TO what a person could put in those sheds! Dripped most of the day yesterday but still managed to eat the weeds and get at least the back yard mowed. Got the valve plumbed up on the tractor and put the blade back on it. Works bettter than ever and no leaks

Have to get some fresh veggies and canned goods together for the ex to take to Ks for the oldest DD. Still getting one brown egg a day, when I go out and collect it they get a lecture. And encouragement. Can't wait till they start getting some feathers back man they are some ugly chickens!

Have been thinking of soup making here too. Mom used to make the best veggie soup in the whole world! Want to try and make that and some beef barley. And of course some chic noodle. Looks like a roller coaster ride in the weather the next few day then cooling off. I'm ready to start making next years wood.

ha to move another quail to the other pen with the peachick.. they are getting pretty raw on their heads .. I think is is from the roosters fighting..

I have 93 quail eggs in the incubator..

I had a call about ducks from my shopper ad.. they wanted to know what ducks ate etc.. I hope they don't show up.. doesn't sound llike the best home for them..

a chicken hatched out a duck egg.. now we have an odd duck.. no place to put it.. I will try to get the mama duck to take it in about a week when it can keep up to her and the rest of the babies..

I didn't work on the coop yesterday.. I didn't feel like getting all smelled up.. I will go at it today.. It should take only a couple of hours at the most.. I am debating whether to hose it down or not.. there is no drain in that coop.. I bought another bag of pine shavings.. $4,89/7 cu ft..F&F.. Annie is so happy that I used it in the chicken coop.. the eggs are so nice and clean..

I like to feed good hay in the winter time.. but I think I am going to just put a pile in one corner so it is not spread all over the whole floor.. I should get a bag and hang some of it .. that would be even better.. I plan to have only one coop occupied this winter.. I might even put a heater in it.. the geese can stay outside..

Yeah TO.. this tandom typing is wierd.. nice bread,, too bad somebody stepped on it.. LOL I love pot roast.. my Mom was not a great cook, but she made a mean pot roast and the best one-crust apple pie ever.. she made the pie in an 8x11 cake pan with only a top crust.. try it,, you'll love it.. and she made a "burnt" gravey.. she would take a piece of the roast and really burn it in a pan, then she somehow ended up with a black juice.
sounds yucky, but was dellicious..

Hi all, You guys are making me hungry! lol
can't talk long, some one is to be going over to get some chickens. any one want to take bets whether they show or not?!

I get alot of call but that is it. at least this lady said she was coming. which reminds me, TO, WHY am I getting calls, for my chickens, from people in or near Madison/Milwaukee? They say cause they can't find birds down there! are you not posting on CL? lol get a move on!

these people call me and want me to basically give the birds away cause THEY have to drive so far?! I told one guy

that that's not MY fault you "gotta" drive so far, I ain't paying for YOUR gas, you want them, they are here, no discount.
ok I gotta run, 9ish is the time she gave me. lol I'm letting them all out at 10 if she's here or NOT! lol

Well, here is the Cream of Zucchini Soup recipe I was telling you all about. I have not tried it but sounds good. So if you like it I'll take credit for it !!!

If you don't, well, I have no idea where you got the recipe !!

Cream of Zucchini Soup

Cooking time: 1 1/4 hrs Makes 5 qts.

Cooking zucchini into the base of this soup for a relatively long time contributes to its rich flavor.

8 Cups water

6 Cups (3Lg) diced russet potato (unpeeled)

8 Cups (5Lg) zucchini-5 Cups diced; 3 Cups sliced into thin rounds

2 Cups (2Lg) diced yellow onions

2 Tbsp butter

2 Tbsp Jensens's broth powder

1/2 tsp whole celery seed

1/4 Cup minced fresh parsley

1 1/2 tsp granulated garlic

1 1/2 tsp crumbled basil leaf

1 Cup sour cream

1 Cup milk

3 oz cream cheese

1/4 lb grated sharp cheddar cheese

2 tsp spike, or to taste

Dash cayenne pepper

In a 6-8 quart pot, bring to a boil: water,potatoes, diced zucchini, onion , butter, Jensen's broth powder, and celery seed. Reduce heat to medium and cook, tightly covered, 45 minutes, or until vegetables begin to dissolve.

Add parsley, zucchini rounds, garlic and basil, and simmer 10-15 minutes, or until zucchini rounds are just tender. Turn burner to lowest heat.

Blend sour cream, milk, cream cheese, and Ceddar cheese in blender until smooth. Add to soup, and heat gently, until very hot but not boiling. Add Spike and cayenne pepper to taste. Serve and Enjoy !!!

Cloudy Afternoon All... Nice looking supper TO! We all just gotta love the fresh stuff while it's here.

Helped suzie with canning yesterday. Did 7 qts of stewed tomatoes, and 9 pints of beets, froze 3 qts of tomatoes and baked a big'ol apple pie with the dutchees apples.

Nice recipe FT...gotta ask what spike is? Prolly cut the recipe in half and give er a try once I know what spike is. Whisky or Brandy, eh?
