Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

What a week...our gray kitten got hit by a car Sat night. I buried her under the new apple tree.

Stupid road is too close to the house. Stupid house is too close to the road.

The coop door got left open today and one of the quail is MIA. Left out some food in a cat crate just in case but that's a looooong shot. The remaining one is lonely. Now I hope it's a boy so I can process it, hate to eat an egg layer.

On a better note, my friend Casey is doing better, stable vitals and he is able to communicate a little bit now (mostly writing, he is still on a ventilator.) There is an infection in his lungs but that was expected as the damaged tissue breaks down; he is getting antibiotics, and surgery on his spine sometime this week. Your prayers really meant a lot, thank you so much everyone.

Oh, Amy, how horrible! I am so sorry about your kitten.

I had that happen once. I will never let my cats outside again, but that is just me. So terribly sorry.
I sure hope you find your quail.
I am happy you got some good news about Casey. Pneumonia is to be expected, that is for sure. They will wait until it has cleared up before doing the surgery. I'm still sending my thoughts and prayers for him. Healing is a long process.

Think it's just a waiting game. Expected it from the prod reds but the slw's joined the strike too. Yup puttin the shelf back in the closet this AM it's all painted. Going to try and get apple pies done today but don't know. Been up since 3:20.

Don't know why. First batch of pies will get baked and handed out to good people. Then over to the DD's for more apples. tiki sorry to hear about Boo! And Amy about the kitten! Glad to hear your friend is doing better! FT how's your hen doing? Hope it's well! Jim and TO sounds like you both have a good deal going. Don't know now if we're going nort this weekend L's DD might have to have a stint put in for a kidney stone she's 8 months prego and her DH is on the road working. She might have to go be the mama to her DD and GD. Better get moving before the urge for a nap kicks in after the java wears off.

good morning,, this is the second time I am getting up.. at 1:3o the dog started barking .. I think he hears thing out in the yard that we can't hear.. OR, maybe he just thinks its funny to see me stumble out of bed half asleep.. No motion lights came on, however..

Amy, what kind of quail do you have ? I have coturnix .. If you have a small cage to put your remaining quail in, and set it on the ground, it might call the loose one back..

I had a lone button quail about 6 years ago.. It lived, running loose, on the chicken coop floor all winter.. It became very tame and would jump up and hit my hand for something to eat..

I could give you a couple of the cortunix if we can network them to you..

just HOW DO you spell cortinux ? cortunix ?

FYI,, If you are feeding a lot of protein, you have to also feed some sort of fat for proper digestion.. bacon grease, deer tallow, cow fat.. anything like that.. If you are pounding protein to cattle, their hair can litterally fall off.. I sort of think some of your long moults are being caused by this problem.. JMHO

I have nothing major planned for today.. I just have to look busy so Annie doesn't catch on..

still have not heard back from the person who wanted the dog house built.. I have a half a notion to go and flag their ad.. I won't, but it would make me feel better..

my first cuppa is gone, the second one is waiting way upstairs, so I'm gone.. BCNU

Amy, so sorry about your kitty. I know about that same horrible road from personal experience with my own animals. People drive too darn fast!

Good to hear about Casey!

Did your quail come back yet?
