We have sunflowers this year... they are dying... can I give them to the hens? Do I need to dry them or do anything to them or toss the whole head in there?

kris... If they're the small black ones you can give them the whole head. The big striped ones I don't know how well the chickens handle them. I had a few (black ones) I grew for the chickens, but I think the wild birds ate most of them

We're thinking of putting a campground on our property. We live on the Apple river and close to the Cattail trail, which allows horses. So maybe next year we should get together.

Just saw a few pictures of trash the dress !!! My dress is in a box all cleaned and waiting for DH2

but I like the idea of trashing it !!!!! Maybe walking thru the horse manure or chicken Sh!t run would do it !!! As the flower girls scatter chicken scratch in front and behind !!!

Fed the horses a few pail of apples today. HR thanks for the apple cider vinegar site. That looks easy enough, think I can handle that.

I can't even yawn or open my mouth but a little bit, enough to get the spoona and fork in however

I sounds to me that someone is offering....so, if we meet at BigZ's place in June, BBP's place in August, ? in October and someplace hot...still have your house in Florida Deb?...in February I think we will have the year covered!

Hey I think that a NW bash would be cool idea....
Had the babies out in a portable pen for a couple of hours letting them do what chickens do....I our run isn't ready yet....so if the weather permits we like to get them out....I have read that people just let them free range and just watch them.....How do you catch them??? I thought about treats but was kind of "chicken" to try it!!!

The babies are getting so big......It seems in hours they change....(5 weeks old) I'd post pics but it frustrates me to no end....Maybe try again soon...Everyone is starting to get little comb like thingys..and their feet are huge.....They are silkies and frizzles and from what I have read....you can't tell sex until they crow or lay an egg!! I don't think we will see any eggs til spring....
Had our fall tractor ride yesterday it was beautiful weather and the leaf color was pretty too...went probably 25-30 miles....
I can also relate to the 40 yr old and 50yr old talk.....sometimes I think I need ADD meds....My head has a million things running through it and things I could be doing....BUT of course do nothing...just the thought tires me out!!
Neighbor lady came over to see chicks today...she says I suppose you'll get more in the spring??!!! I told her we will have to see how these winter!!!

Yep I think four district bashes would be a good thing. I found a perfect spot for one up here but I don't think to many would travel way up to Crandon. There is a nice picnic area on Lake Metonga in Crandon. Nice pavillion, bathrooms, no kitchen however, hey this is Crandon we're talking !!
