Completely off topic here, but does anybody know of where I can get some Pilgrim geese eggs for hatching? I can't keep them for myself, but I do know where they will go grow up and it is a beautiful place...

Congrats on the pips and chick!! It's so cool to watch and more so for the kids as well.

We have Terry O's incuabtor eggs in lockdown and Monday 3/15 is day 21

Blue is the proud foster mommy of 6 chicks-the 7th egg was no good when we candled it this am. The chicks are coming out and starting to try the food(we put a open pan close to Blue so she is starting to show them, now to get the right size water out there for the chicks).

Outside to do some pick-up and cleaning, one of our RIR hens wasn't doing so good for awhile now and she didn't make it- we think that she had some type of blockage somewhere in her body past the crop area and no egg blockage as far as we could tell.

H&R--sorry to hear your hen didnt make it....it is so sad when we lose one, especially one that is not even a year old yet! I am so excited to see Blue's babies! I will have to come out next week...maybe on Tuesday and I might get to see a hatcher too! That would be cool. OK I NEED to go to work! Fridays are not bad...one fun guy and then I get to make lunch at the elderly residence; I just got hired as the relief cook. It is pretty fun so far. Chili today there...maybe her too! Terrio

And I read what you guys say about the milk. And I agree that you should be able to buy and sell it if you want. However, I do think it should be tested every day if you choose to do that. I know from experience what it feels like to get the bacteria the may be in milk. It's called campylobacter jejuni. And though I did not get it from drinking milk, (no one knows where I got it from. It also comes from chickens and other farm animals and things and I got it BEFORE I had chickens.) I was in the hospital for 4 days and it took almost 3 full months before I completely recovered. It was truely bad. The thing is, the test takes 4 days to get results. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Dr great to hear all the turkey hunting enthusiasm, it's one of my favorite hunts, though I haven't done it for about 2 years. First time I ever came across a wild turkey I was walking up a ravine opening morning of deer hunting and it was early morning. I thought I heard something in front of me but I thought it was too early for anything to be up...I was just passing a big boulder in this long uphill climb and a turkey rose up behind that boulder with wings flapping and I darn near emptied into my pants, screamed and had a heart attack all at once. He was only a foot in front of my face and made a big racket. Cripes. My brother behind me darn near died from laughing being about ten feet behind me. Said I launched about 4 feet off the ground...I'm betting I didn't get but 2 feet up.

I'll be at the Fondy event tomorrow morning, we'll be picking up our first chicks from a vendor there who has a nice selection. Hope to see some of you there. GBCB

6:30? Oh my Lord, I can do that but I don't know about the girls. Hmmmm. I think we can shoot for 7 maybe. I wasn't going to go until I talked with this feller from Jackson who's going up there to sell some of his chicks. Sounds like he's got a nice selection and doesn't think he'll sell out tomorrow. So....I'll wait til Mom gets home and see what I can talk them into.

Thanks for the hardy laugh you gave me BBCB. I'm still laughing I can see it vividly! The birds should be lighting up pretty early this year. I normally put in for the around the first week of May. Warmer yet no bugs. Bigz you should have a good chance with you first week tag. Darn it everyone is having babies and I have to stick to my guns, it sucks! My oldest daughter will be home this weekend, she's in Madtown learning how to neuter cats and dogs. Hope she can handle the work load and become a full fledged Vet. It'll be really good to see her! The kids have a much bigger area to tear up today. I like it! H&R I'm sorry! I know how it feels.
