Why not just let her go broody, continue to take the eggs away everyday. She will come out of it on her own. You are dealing with mother nature here. What kind of chicken is it again?
Maybe put some none fertile eggs under her and keep removing the fertile ones. After she realizes they arent'going to hatch she will give up.
I personally don't break up a broody hen. Do make sure she is eating and drinking however.
Good Luck.
Carol= yes we can chat tomorrow. I am home with the kids. Only outing I might do is to town to grab hay from my friends house.
FT- I guess I am not sure how long she could be broody. Almost a month now and I am not sure how much she is eating/drinking. She is a 6/7 month old Buff Orp. She lost her litter mate at 18 weeks. She does not have fertile eggs since we have no rooster- is it normal to be broody (without being a silkie lol) without a rooster. Sorry still new to chickens so figuring it all out.
Hoping to have a bigger coop in next year or two and then have a roo and more chickens of course!! Loving my hens
