Welcome to the new folks to the cheeseheads....these folks here are as good as folks come!

Ben really busy here with alot of stuff that needs to be done.... gosh!

OK I'll be back... bigz

MLH and FT....my dog had a urine culture done, was run on a course (long) of antibiotics and put on incontinence meds. The x-rays and exploratory surgery would be the last ditch effort. I will try limiting his water to certain times and see if that helps in. In the meantime, I'm investing in heavy duty pads to put in his belly band. Poor guy. And this is on top of him being a tripod since age 3 when he took on a pickup and lost. He's had more than his fair share of vet bills after that encounter!

Stay safe in the the storm that's coming, all! I think in my part of the world, Green Bay/Fox Valley, we get off light with only rain, but it's only a matter of time.

Oh My , what a warrior shanti! I kinda figured you were on top of all things that could help your best friend. I truly wish i could help someway. The perfect gift of life lived needs to come into play for all of us. We are by no means separate from nature, but part of it. The Creator and his misson for the end of all living things is hard to understand, for sure! The good times are etched in your mind and stone for sure.

Shanti-that's good that your vet did the urine culture and AB's. I'm sorry that did not help him thought. Did they also do blood work to see how his kidney functions look/ work? I can't remember if you posted that. If I might say, You might consider an x-ray or ultrasound if your vet feels that would give you a "look" to see if any changes or masses are involved. This might give you some form of answer or direction to take. My elderly cat had some issues at the beginning of this year. Lost story short involving a massive weight loss, we we took an xray and found a mass in her pancreaus (sp). I did not want to spend oodles of money trying to find the cause since she was 17, on thyroid meds and she was going down hill fast. I elected to euthanize her so she would no longer be uncomfortable. At most if I had done all the specialist referals and steroids and other stuff I might have bought her 2 months at the very most. Due to her age, I felt she did not need to go through that and all the stress giving her the meds was something she and I did not need. We figured with other symptoms she displayed she probably had pancreatic cancer. I'm glad I had the xray thought since in her case it gave me and my vet an insight to what might be the cause of her symptoms and made my decision, while still sad, much easier to make. Hugs to you and your family....I wish I could help more...

Tatters- Where I live it's odd. Apparently my particular plot of land is not zoned for chickens although my neighbors a dairy farm and the house across the street from me is zoned for all types of critters. My neighbor on the other side of me is the town park! I doubt the trees or the baseball diamond care if I have chickens and I know the dairy folk don't! Neither does the family across the street. So, I keep my chickens close to the house, in the front. No one else knows I have them. Or if they do they don't seem to mind.

TO-It's the same 5 Girls are laying. I got 5 eggs again today! I personally think they are just lazy and like to be snuggled in the nest to warm their little toes up after scratching in the cold dirt! Silly Girls!

I was going to blab to the person with the Americana/EE that was laying olive eggs but I can't remember who that was! LOL! All I remember was think Oh Wow she/he has an Olive Egger! That's cool! I had one once may moons ago-she laid nice big olive eggs. Ah well....

Well darn, DH just got a call from his mom in Cali. Apparently she fell and thinks she sprained her ankle. She's at the ER right now. This is not good. She fell just before I left for Cali and broke her tail bone. Please keep your fingers crossed that she only sprained her ankle and did not break it.

So did he have a bladder infection or did they just prescribe them to see if it would help?
I'd say he isn't in pain and you don't mind padding him, go for it. He sounds like a gem !! What is his name?
Never forget years ago when I was at my prosthetist (I'm a single pod
gig.gif
) they had a picture of a dachsund wearing a prosthesis. It was so cute, short and stumpy little leg. They even made it the chocolate color that he was !!! They couldn't even match mine that good !!!

Well, got my tires and while they were being put on spent another $179 in the store !!!! (But no more total then would have spent someplace else for just the tires)
Of course it was chicken related !!! I bought two 14g 100' extension cords for $40 each ($20 off) and a 50' for $22. Didn't want the 16 g and don't think I'd need the 12g just for the lights and water warmers. I have the 12 g for the horse tank heaters. Hope our circuits can handle it all. We had two outdoor outlets installed when we put in some water lines. They were on two seperate circuits but for some reason the one outlet that also goes to the coop doesn't work. We changed the cirucuit and the GFC outside and no luck. Something must have come disconnected underground ?? DH did the wiring !!! NO commet !!!
barnie.gif

So now we only have two circuits to come off of. I think.
Bringing my hog pans down to Racine tomorrow to have my brother make some tops (which will really be bottoms) He is a sheet metal guy so shoudn't cost me anything or close to nothing.
I measured the hog pans and they are between 3.5-4" deep. I think that should be deep enough.
I also priced the cookies that come in the bigger tins and they are $10 each !!! First of all I don't need the cookies and I need about 6 heaters so my hog pan for $3.50 which is heavier duty will have to do.
TO what are the measurements of your cookie tins?
Good thing I put my ho-made chili in the slow cooker before I left. It was done to perfection when I got home. DH was starving so that was good, dinner ready and waiting.
I put corn in my chili. I remember when I made a batch years ago and brought some to my Dad to try. At that time I used Hot Chili powder and red pepper flakes. When he saw the corn he said "Nothing like adding bullets to the gun powder !!! "
gig.gif
It was so hot it made your mouth tingle. I'll have to get some more of that hot chili powder !!

Bought my baby niece a Pink Princess bowling set. My Mom loved to bowl so this is in a way something from GreatGrandma and GreatGrandpa. Can't wait to see that little stinker !!! She is addorable but of course I would say that !!!
gig.gif
Guess there is going to be house full tomorrow. Little does she know how much she is loved !!! She is the only baby in the family right now !!!! Spoiled but not Spoiled Rotten !!! My baby nephew will be there, he is now amost 17.5 yrs. I still say "Hey Baby" when I see him !!! YES everyone has to have an Aunt like that !!!
lau.gif
My brother just chuckles when I go up to Eli and give him hugs & Kisses !!!
love.gif
Betcha he is feeling a sense of relieve now that the baby girl, Adalyn is in the picture (his cousin) not sister.

Oh, that chili was filling. Now I have to recoup and go downstairs and do laundry, make sure waterers are full and then wrap Addys gifts. Nothing like waiting til the last minute hey? Although I'll have 5 hours to wrap while DH drives !!! That will keep me from driving from the back seat !!!
gig.gif

I brought one silkie/cochin chick up to be company for the lavender split silkie, think I already told you all that. Anyway I left 2 in with Mom and the gang. Found 1 blue colored one dead
sad.png

Sunday I'm going to set up a seperate pen for the hens and chicks. Oh so much to do
th.gif

Ok gotta go check my mealworm auction !!!

Yep, didn't burn Rubber with the new tires but did notice they gripped nice around all the curves on HWY 55 on the way home. They other day the wind made me slide on the wet road because the tires were so worn !!!
Jim those were smoke signals for you !!!

Well now that my Lavender Orphintons are all grown up (CC sorry to report) I now think I have two Roosters (par for the course). I have two black hens but not sure if they are Orpingtons or Australorps !!! Anyway, I have one lavender Ameraucana Hen so I think will make me some Lavender EEr's !!! I hate the fact that the Lavender hen is free Ranging. I will maybe set her up with Roos in he basement to get some Lav EEr's. She hasn't started laying yet tough, nor have any of my black Ameraucanas or the ones from Jim. What he heck is their issue with being late bloomers !!! I have one or two oliver Eggers left I think. Either the fox or my dog got the other ones.

that it is only a sprain. My Aunt that fell has a concusion (sp) fracture of her spine and found out tonigt from my sister that my uncle (her husband) has fallen as well but we don't know the details of that yet. So our get together for next Saturday has been cancelled until January or ??? I sure hope this isn't the beginning of the end. If we all knew what was going to take us we wouldn't want wake up, best not knowing sometimes !!

Thought and prayers for everyone here who's going thru this with their loved ones !!

DrH, I am so sorry to hear about your mom & uncle. That makes for a rough time, indeed. I hope your mom continues to improve. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts.

You aren't feeding your girls Layena, are you? When I had mine on that, I went from perfect eggs to soft-shelled eggs to no-shelled eggs to no eggs period.

I can't remember if I said this already or not, but congrats on the peep, FT. She is adorable. And I'm sure she was quite warm on her ATV ride. What don'tcha stuff in there, woman? Wait, maybe I don't want to know.
lau.gif
And I'll be keeping your aunt and uncle in my thoughts too.

Not a good couple of days around here lately. What's up with that? And
hit.gif
on the lav roos. But if I could find a lav orp hen somewhere, I would be interested in one of them if you don't want them both, someday?

Good luck with the cat, TO. I hope you can get her, if that is what you're planning. It is getting just too darn cold for them to be outside-I really hate people sometimes. Is it really that difficult to take them to a shelter, especially at this time of year? My sis has a mom cat & one kitten by her too. She has been feeding them to the point that they would let her pet them, so one day she grabbed them & got them into her garage, at least. When they get a little tamer, she will take them to the vet to be checked out, then she'll bring them in the house. Hopefully momma isn't preggo again.
fl.gif
Oh, and when the dish fairy does finally show up, send her this way, will ya, TO?
gig.gif
Reading that almost made me choke.

Tatters! Hope you like it here and learn lots.

Darn it, Jim! I almost spit water all over creation! Wow, that was painful.

MLH, I'm hoping for the best for your MIL.

Thanks for asking about Jasmine (bunny, not Cind's broody)! She is doing much better. I think the shot the vet gave her has helped her a bit, and her attitude has really improved, so that in itself is great. It must have made her feel better, plus I moved her out of a huge cardboard box and into her old cage so she can see everything going on around her. I think she likes that much better, probably not as lonely, being able to see us & the cats. I would have put her in her cage right away, but there was a chicken in it.
roll.png
hide.gif
So this morning the chicken went back out in the coop, I got the cage all bleached out and moved Jasmine in. There is definitely nothing affecting her appetite. She has been eating like a little piglet. I took a few pics of her so I'll have to download them later. Thanks again for all your well wishes, they're helping!

Here she is!

And here is a pic of her and her man out in the carport. His name is Shadow, but DH calls him Brunswick because he says he looks like a bowling ball with ears. Big meanie........

good morning everyone,

looks like it is freezing rain in Wausau.
Drh I hope your mll a speedy recovery.

today I have to run to fleet and pick up a water heater. I moved the heater lower and it still is forming a bit of ice on the waterer but the top is a nice toasty 50. Not sure whay but I will add it. The chickens are still going out, next week we are going to get colder so I wonder at what temp will they decided they would rather stay in.

hope everyone stays safe. off to walk the dogs.
David
