Just looked up my receipt for my layer and chick custom mix and I'm paying just under $.20 a lb. And it has added calcium and vitamins. It doesn't have the flax but it is a high protein feed.
I have looked into mixing my own but by the time you add what you need to make it balanced it will really bring up the cost.
If you really want to stay away from comercial mixes, contact your local feed mill and ask them for a quote on a custom mix, think you will be surprised at how much you can save. If you don't like their prices, shop around.
My feed mill has about 4 different recipes for me !! If I want to save more I get a lower protein that time etc. My latest recipe uses showmaster sheen in the mix, it is similar to Calf Manna which is high protein.
Jim, that's a mild word in her vocabulary !!!!! She's called people worse !!! I think that is the first time she's called me a name directly !!!! I'm sure I've been called plenty in her mind !!!!
She never married or had children. I've always been close to her but of course got closer after my parents were murdered (she is my Dad's sister) but she isn't my Mom and my sister and I have to keep reminding ourselves that !!! Auntie has a heart of gold underneath it all (at least we always thought so) but tell her that you love her and she thinks you "Want something" !!! You should have heard her a few years ago when she was in the hospital after having a stroke. She had a bout with hospital psycosis (sp) and was telling everyone to call the cops because they were holding her hostage !!
EVERYBODY in the family had a given name then because they didn't help her escape !! lol That sure was fun !! She also said some things that she obviously was holding in for a long time !!! Man oh Man what next.
Well, I did it again and it's all BYC Cheeseheads fault !!! LOL I was feeding the horses and was delivering them their second Atv full of hay and my ATV started sliding sidways down the hill. I was trying to get as close to the fence as I could. As I slid into the fence I was thinking "Oh wait til I tell all my friends on Cheeseheads about this slippery snow" !! So need I say more, I wasn't concentrating on my driving and tried backing up and just slid further into the fence. SH!T !!!!
So there happened to be a lawn chair out their a few feet away I decided to take a break, sit in the chair and watch the horses eat then called my sister to discuss Auntie !! Then I had to climb the hill, slip sliding away !!!!
Few words such as "Ah Duck" ! (edited) while I ventured thru the winter wonderland !!! Made it to the basement door and Mr Piggy greated me !!!
He tried to follow me down the road today to the mailbox. He managed to go halfway down past our 20 acre hay field then turned around (Our mail box is 1/4 mile down the road) When I got back up to the spot he had turned around at he heard the ATV and ran out to greet me and Butt Dog. Nice Piggy !!!
Learned today that two goats will fit inside the camper !! Let the goats out for a bit and Scout and Lucky Joe decided to check out camper #3. I was wondering what all the ruckus was all about then out pop two goats !!!
Guess I won't have to ask them twice if they want to go camping hey ???? LOL

I would have never guessed. The woman I got them from said they were pied or white guess she couldn't make up her mind. Btw does your Mom ever call you names ????? Would love to hear what if any? Then he told me that our deer might be ready this week ????? At first I thought it was at least 8 weeks. Cool. Now I just need to find some money to have sausage made and make room in the freezer !!!
