Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening! Just got back from work and I am BEAT! No idea why I am so tired...must have been the getting up early and the mental stress of the day...ALL of my clients were really crabby it seems...I also was at grocery stores 4 times today! I am DONE with shopping for a while...

So DrH, if you or any others want to raise barnyard specials next year I always have eggs! Just let me know when you want them and I can save them for you out of the fridge. I also am planning on having some pure stock...not exactly sure which ones I will separate out yet. I have MANY choices! That link that was provided on the Buckeye thread about culling for egg, meat and show was very interesting! I bookmarked it so I can go back and reread.

The owl got one of the subborn guineas last night (again!) I found just wings this morning and LOTS of feathers! NO feet so I couldnt tell if it was one of the ones I hatched or an older one. THe funny thing is, they all go into the coop in the morning just after I open it and sit on the roosts! Stupid birds!
THe Royal Palm is still looking for his buddy (the one that I sold last week) He comes out of the coop every morning and calls for him...I hope he stops soon! THe hen turkey is still sitting on her eggs--I think they are duds cause the one that was hatching tried to do so 3 days ago...never did get clear of the egg and died in the process. If she would have let me reach under her I might have been able to take it into the house but who knows? She is at eye level and I really like being able to see!

Tonight when I go outside I am moving the Buckeyes to another pen. They are not doing well in the barn at all! Every day they look a little more bedraggled...they dont roost and sit on the floor to sleep...it is much drier elsewhere so I will see if they do better. I thought I might have heard a sneeze today...

So my client and I went to a Mexican place for a late lunch...[pretty soon I will start to speak Spanish!] and I am so stuffed! That is one of the few places that I can eat without too much worry as long as I stay away from the Mexican rice. (they use chicken base that has gluten in it) This place makes the BEST corn tortillas...mine never taste that good! I asked the guy how they heated them up and he said just on the grill...HMMMM. ANyhow--neadless to say I am NOT making steak for dinner as planned...I forgot to get the beans in the SC to soak so I asked DD to take out steaks...then she decided to go out with friends tonight...I guess it is omelets for him!

Congrats on selling all those eggs Cind! I need more customers...I gave away 6 dozen yesterday and another 5 today. I hate keeping them longer than a week in the fridge...I just dont have the room. Tonight I am hardboiling 2 dozen to feed to the dogs with their breakfast tomorrow. THe extras go to the parrots, finches and chickens. We all are big egg eaters here!

OK--I guess I better go and get the laundry down...DH says we are supposed to be getting a bunch of rain tomorrow (like 2") and I dont want all the blankets wet again. I have to get the stuff put back in the shed too...now that is going to be a project in the dark! I better put on the head lamp!

Back later...maybe--Terri O

Early Evening All... what the heck

Can't for the life of me figure out why yo'all think I drink any beer?

Started today going to the Waupaca Co recycle place to get rid of some old computer stuff. Only $2 per item til the first of the year. Good deal compared to anyplace else. I took 6 items, monitors, hard drives, and a couple old tv's.

Busy day after that getting a Christmas Tree for Mom and Me and Sis. We have alot of wholesale lots here with loads going to the cities for sales. The smaller home grown retail lots with fair prices have alot of traffic and the perfect tree is still out there somewhere!

We did find a tree for Mom and another one for us, however from now on the first half way goody tree is getting the ax! I've walked miles with smiles today for a simple perfect tree.

Cool packer snowmen FT.... It looks like TO with the OO number. I knew she was a fan at heart and just keeping her back to us to keep us guessing!

Hope your knee is better soon Doc. I had knee surgery back in the 80's and don't want to ever repeat that ordeal.
It's a long story I'll share sometime with a couple beers. It's more than a one beer story....

Sure is nice with this balmy Dec weather. Hope it can last til Spring!

Later ... bigz

I am waiting for my ride to go play cards..

Brent I don't remember anybody saying you drank beer. Man, the way you put it away can't be considered drinking..

a tree needs only one good side,, put it in a corner and you can't see most of it.. I always thought it would be a good idea to cut all of the back branches off so that it fit tightly into a corner.. of course, I have a wife who...........

I almost lost my head this morning.. when I opened the guinea door , two peafowl flew out and over the chicken coop.. good thing I was standing off to one side..

good links to the peafowl Sandi.. I saved it for future use.. the incubation paragraph was right on the money.. everybody here should read and save it..
I liked the name Larry for that person's peacock.. had a nice ring to it.. "hey look !! Larry is kicking the sh!t out of that hawk.."

Remember when I was telling you all about the old house I was interested in? I snapped a few picts of that too.

The driveway is really overgrown, but once you get past that the house and outbuildings look very structurally sound and workable.

The watch dog was nice enough to sit placidly and watch for any interupters while I took some pictures.

Cind, congrats on the egg sales! And your bean soup sounds like how I make mine. Sometimes I use the mixed beans, other times I use lima beans (DHs fav).

DrH, I hope your knee gets better real quick, and I hope the baby is ok too.

My PRs were burned out at age 2 also, unfortunately.

MLH, hope you're better soon!

Rant away, Jim! We're all friends here & understand.

If the OTs are truly OTs, they will know that the "cheaper" plucker is most likely just that. I wouldn't waste a single moment even worrying about it. All he prolly did was cause some chuckles & head shaking. Maybe he's overcompensating for some area in which he is lacking?
