Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning! Welcome Runner! I am sure that FT will take your roo...she seems to be the "home for unwanted Roos" I sure am glad she took over my title!

Tiki--I LOVE that place! I thought you were just joshin' but it looks to have been for sale for a "little" while so maybe somebody could get it for a song? I sure hope that is your dog and he doesnt actually live there! Nice pheasant...you should post it on the pheasant page...maybe it is a cross with a wild one and a tame one? I didnt think the regular kind had that cool purple color on them! Also I cant wait to get some of those games from you! Way cool!
DrH--I will PM you when I get home from work. I sure hope your knee gets good news at the VA! My neighbor suffers with bad knees too and he is a mess! Congrats on the new family member! True to you being a guy we didnt get the length and weight...stuff we women want to know...well, at least you got the name and sex of the baby! One time DH came home and said, "Carol had her baby." No other information!!!

OK I have to go to work...it is pouring here and I am hoping it will be done with that by the time I get home! Later! Terri O

Morning All!
Thank you very much for the well wishes! I'm feeling better but still rather hacky! A well, that's what I get from hanging around a friend with airport germs!

It's a rainy yuckie morning here. I wish it's just snow all ready! I rather dislike rain and all the wet. The Girls are very complainy and whinny. They are miffed because I ran out of bread treats so I guess I better get myself all motivated to go to the store. The rabbits are good though. They don't whine. Give them some hay and a couple of banana chips here and there and they are pleased as punch!

I have my little Christmas Tree up and so far The Evil One has completely ignored it. I decided to go with just plain old lights instead of twinkling ones. I figured this might cut down on kitty over load. I have to gloat here. While my kitten has been good with the tree (so far) my kitten niece Mittens has been rather hard on her family tree. I guess it's quite the issue at Big Bro's house! LOL! They made the rookie mistake of getting a real tree....I guess her inner panther has come out....Mawahahahaahahah!!!

Tiki-That pheasant is the make version of my Buzzy. His is a Chinese Ring Neck. Most likely either an escapee from a breeding farm or from a game/hunting preserve. Since he is not wearing any blinders/blinkers then I'm thinking from a game preserve. They are rather pretty but I like the Melanistic Mutant's a little better. They are black and green. I asked dh and he said that The Eau Claire 4-H club let a bunch go to repopulate them in that area. He might be a releasee.

Welcome runnersrunn! Hope you find a home for the roo! He sounds like a nice enough fellow.

Ok I'd better go do something.
Chat soon

Good wet and warm morning. Almost 50 here in madison area. Girls are not sure what to do with the mud in the coop. So need an enclosed feeder so that their food doesnt get soaked when it rains! ( I keep hinting to Dh to make me a nice treadle feeder...)
Cindlady... would love craft ideas for 5 year old range. We are making beads on pipe cleaner wreath ornaments today and gingerbread people. my kids love crafts.
Asthma flare ups here too.... sorry we all seem affected.

Have a great day!

Taking a short break, just the corners left to tape. MLH glad to hear your feeling a little better! Just love the moniker "Evil One"!

I know which you speak, but they are so funny! TO your right guess as long as their healthy that's all that matter to us guys. 8lbs 10oz; and a little short on one end 16inches. Both parents are vertically challenged. The thing is I wouldn't want to interupt/ruin/scare any family get together! I promise I would keep short, when I'm on the road I like to roll on down it and get there. Ol truck driver thing I guess. Thanks for all the congrats but I'm not officially a G'pa yet. None of MY offspring has done any hatching yet. But still have fun with L's G'kids. And I get to go home when I get done working them up!

I'm thinking that you wouldn't want to cut the heat tape, isn't it a loop type thing? Elec is my weakest point so I'm just babbling. These days the only xmas decorations we put up is a mistletoe and that hangs year round. Seems to work!

Back to work.

Hey all- I know some people think this weather is a mess, but I'm loving it, as are the chickens. They're happy to be able to get out and run around the property instead of being confined to the coop and run (which they won't even go out in when there's snow...). I just hope they don't get too wet and cold in this drizzle, but none of them are super young so I hope they can self regulate... I'll check on them in a little while to be sure.

Last night I almost forgot to shut the window to the coop... probably wouldn't have been a big deal since it only dropped like two degrees, but the wind last night was blowing right in that window, so I'm glad I remembered.

Speaking of egg customers, I seem to finally have a decent balance. I have a friend who buys 3-4 dozen a week and a neighbor who gets two dozen every other week or so. That leaves enough for us without having a constant surplus. I'm still getting 10-12 eggs most days from my 17 layers, which I'm grateful for. Because we eat a lot of eggs.

I should be knitting right now. I'm working on Christmas presents and have like 9 left.

DrH, you are still a grampa to us.. It is the spirit of the job, not the blood.. the whole neighborhood had a common Grampa with old Herman G, when I was a kid.. I even took my new bride to meet him 80 miles away where we spent 2 days of our honeymoon.. We always laughed about it afterwards.. the bed he gave us really squeaked..

I was thinking the same thing about the heat tape,, a looped circuit.. but I was thinking about a waterproof splice of some sort that would not be too bulky.. I will have to see the boys at ETCO electric.. They just love it when I come in with these wild ideas.. For my plumbing brainstorms, I go see Don at F&F..

If they tell me that it probably won't work, I thank them and go do it anyhow..

good luck on the bum knee.. I used to have knee problems until I quit doing roofing jobs..

Maybe your problem is from hearing/telling too many good ole knee slapping jokes..

Late morning everyone

to all the new friends! Congrats DrH to you and L! Glad to hear that mom and baby are doing good

We have friends that my kids consider aunt and uncle and other friends that are honorary Grandparents(even though the kids have some on each side of the family) and they spoil the kids! Of course one person has an issue with both couples being given this honor and it's not my side

Working at home again today(3rd day in a row) hopefully the part for DH's truck will be in today and he can put it back together tonight- the power steering pump was leaking so DH changed that out only to find he had no power steering so took that pump back and got a new one and still nothing. So after a bit of looking he figured the solonoid(sp) with the power steering pump was bad too. So he ended up ordering the part through the dealership only to get there to pick it up and figure out that they no longer make the solonoid and there is a conversion kit you have to get. By then it was to late to order one in for yesterday- today was the earliest. Of course he came home and fixed the old solonoid to see if that was the problem and yep the power steering works but it very very touchy so just to be safe we decided he should wait for the correct part before driving! This will put me 3 days behind in getting 3 units clean and ready to go but on the flip side I have a bunch of paperwork done

doing some baking today as the kids have asked for several different items to be made.. have an egg dish baking right now to be followed by a lemon pie and on to mixing up cookies for the kids to make when they get home.

Jim- I asked DH about cutting the heat tape- he says it needs to be unplugged and then cut it, rejoin the wires at the cut end so it completes a circuit- not sure if this is helpful to you or not. Good luck!

Back to work before I get fired!

thank DH for me H&R.. that is sort of what i had planned to do.. but I have to water proof the cut end because it will be inside of a water hose.. hence the waterproof splice..

My bil works for the phone company.. I will see what they have in this order of product.. I need some black tape, anyhow.

eta: we got another turkey egg today,, only this one is from a new layer..it was in the coop.......

I started up the other incubator.. just waiting for it to get up a full head of steam before I transfer the goose eggs.... I have 42 of them going..

I am asking DH what to use to water proof the cut end- I'll see what he tells me and let you know.

DH says you could dip it in plastic-dip or coat with liquid electric tape. Hope this helps!
