Good Christmas Eve Morning to you all!!

I went out to the coop to do my tour of duty and I glanced at the shaving mound that the Girls created to lay their egg in. I guess nest boxes are passe....Anyway, I saw a glimpse of a blue/green egg before one of the Orloff's sat her big butt down to lay her egg. That means Valerie has decided to lay again! That was a nice surprise!
Other then that, I love the heated water bowl I got for them. Very spiffy invention that.
Today we are going to breed the rabbits. They are finally old enough. Actually they have been old enough for a couple of months and I'm finally getting around to breeding them. Ah well better late then never.

WCc-Glad to hear that you finally got paid. Congrats on the pullets! They sound adorable!

TO-DH and I are going to join Weight Watchers this Jan. I asked him to join with me to lend support. We will see how long this lasts! LOL!

Cind-Enjoy your ham! That is one large ham!

CC-That is interesting about the coyotes and dogs. One of the 4-H sheep leaders and breeders I knew in CA had two GP's live with his sheep heard. They were heck on the Coyotes. In my Hobby Farms mag this month there is an article about "guardians". It goes over dogs, donkey's, and Llama's. It was a very nice article that brought back a memory.
When I was in Cali, at my mentors ranch, we took in a BLM Burro that needed to be rehomed. Cisco was awesome. Very sweet and kind and an absolute angel. One night my Mentor and her DH heard a racket coming from the pasture where the yearlings were living with Cisco. All of the horses were standing huddled and quivering in their corrals, as far away from the pasture as they could get. Cisco had the yearlings all corralled in one area far way from the fence line and he was making this bizarre noise and running back and forth along the fence line-in a complete rage. A neighbor come over, with shot gun in tow, to see what was going on. Another neighbor heard it the racket too and drove his truck down form the hill he lived on. Turns out as everyone was standing with flash lights and truck lights pointed into the Avocado Orchard behind the fence line, trying to see what set Cisco off, a huge Mountain Lion ran out from the orchard behind the fence and took off down in the ravine to the side of the property. Cisco may have been small but he sure knew what to do and we never saw the Lion that close again.

Ok, off I go! Have a Happy Christmas everyone and enjoy! Cheers

good Christmas eve morning.. going to turn into a busy day this afternoon.. At 11AM they are suposed to be bringing the dog to me.. I know the previous two owners of this particular dog.. My former boss 's dog had her as a pup, then he sold her to Brian, who sold/or gave her to Justine who is giving her to me..

Brian has two of her pups which were born this October..
Brian got rid of her because he said she didnt spend enough time in the pasture with the sheep..
she wanted to spend her time around the buildings.. but for me that is ideal.. I don't want her out in the fields..

I do not have a coyote problem.. there are plenty in the neighborhood.. there are a few wolves and bears, too.. there has been a bear hanging out in the woods behind my house, but I haven't had a bear in the yard for a few years.. never had a wolf or a coyote visit.. had a bobcat on the deck once, a few years ago..

I have heard those tales about coyotes luring dogs out and killing them,, It might be interesting to learn "the rest of the story" .. what kinds of dogs, etc ? I know that an Albanian can handle wolves.. In the old country, the Albanian did not earn a spiked collar until after it's first succesful encounter with a wolf or bear..

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

amazing that we are are without snow this time of year. I'll take it

I work tonight but off tmw with the family. Dh and kids are going to come up to see the lab and spend a little of Xmas eve with me before going to his sisters. Our lab donated a lot of gifts to the senior homes around us that didn't have family. Really brings out the spirit of Christmas when People are so thankful. One man asked for duct tape to fix his shoes, so we bought him new shoes. He almost was in tears. So wonderful.

I still have to wrap gifts!! Ugh!!!

Getting over bronchitis.

Have a great time with love ones and drink, eat, be merry and celebrate what Christmas is really about

Merry Christmas Eve Morning All.... Once again my wish is for Peace On Earth and Good Will To All.

Congrats on the whole ham cind. We simply cut around the center down to the bone, then saw with the meat saw. Really hardly any bone to cut at all. Then we steal a nice steak off each half....leaving plenty on each half.

Gotta love those hams, eh!

Suzie is making Venzun bbq's for Christmas at jennies tomorrow. She is also making her southwestern beans, cheezy potatoes and a platter of shrimp dip.....for desert it's apple pudding cake! I hope everyone has plenty to eat and drink. We are so fortunate to live in America.

We ended up with prolly 2" of snow....The flock just looks out the pop holes and figures no fricken way I'm gonna walk on that stuff.

Later... bigz

Merry Christmas everyone! Please be safe and feed those chickens well (animals deserve to be spoiled on holidays)

we are all set for the day.. Annie just layed down for a ten minute breather before delivering the food to her sister's house .. She made about 10 pounds of rump roast and I made the gravy for the hot beef sandwiches. then there is pulled pork and cowboy beans.. pistacio pudding, and too much other good food.. I already sampled the beans and beef.. It is OK for human consumption.. Prince seemed to like the small pieces I tossed to him while I sliced the beef..

No new dog today.. she could not be caught to put into their truck.. she could sense that treachery was afoot.. will try again tomorrow, BEFORE starting the truck up..

I am glad it snowed.. we got about an inch.. everything here was glare ice before.. now with the snow it is much safer to walk.. still have not had to start up the tractor to plow.. It is hard to believe that Christmas is here already.. sure has been a mild winter so far..

I gave up on the electric water hose project.. I took a hose and chopped it off to about 20 feet.. It is easy enough to drain it.. I can always splice it back together next spring..

I think I will just stay down here in my easy chair and take a nap until Annie has to leave..

no action on the 13 eggs in the hatchher yet..

LOL see I'm still here, no didn't see it, but my neighbor thinks it was a Brown recluse....... its looks nasty enough to be that, hurts so bad I haven't slept in 3 days, and Ibuprofen isn't working so hot for pain... Never new till today them nasty things were even in Wisconsin........ so much for my reason for living in this godforsaken cold state...
