Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Thanks TO...Trying to figure something out now...We have these reusable heat packs that last 4-6 hrs.....think I will put one of those out for him. Wondering if a hot water bottle would work-has anyone ever tried that?

WOW, I didn't realize we are going to have to go without BYC on Tuesday, I didn't read about the New BYC. I'll have to do that !! Guess that woud be a good day to get the oil changed on the truck, go to town and get a new tire for the horse trailer that blew up today when OM took it for hay, luckily it has 4 tires. (See Tator Tot, I do wear the pants !!! I do all of the GUY work)

I think I am going to have withdrawal attacks as well !!!

MLH you are making me want to spend more time with my horses too !!! And they are right outside my house !!! TO my horses don't really get used but to me they are well worth what I pay !!! It costs me less to feed 6 horses, 3 standard donkeys, 2 ponies, 6 goats and 1 pot bellied pig then it does to feed all of these gosh darn chickens that ARE TAKING ALL OF MY TIME AWAY from them !!!

I want to go out and do parelli so bad but OM never got my Round pen done. He dug drain holes and never filled them with the gravel so I can't use it !!!

Do you have a heat light out there for the others? If so maybe put it closer to his kennel. If not I think the hot water bottle would work. Just make sure he isn't in and drafts. He may not have lost as much blood as it seems. I'd make sure he has plenty of food and water so in the AM he can start eating to keep up his strength. If can microwave some scrambled eggs for him too. Spoiling never hurts.
If he isn't looking like he is in shock or anything tonight he will probably be fine. Maybe put a hen in with him ????

when I gave blood at the red cross, they always gave me a bottle of beer to replenish my fluids..

I just got off the phone with the lady who gave Nora to us.. A guy from Park Falls s coming to her ouse tomorrow to take two puppies.. He mentioned that he would also take the mother.. sorry fella.. I am not ready to give up on this one just yet.. I told her that he could come and take a look at Nora if he wanted to..
the only way I would give her up is if I cannot train her to come on command.. I have never had a dog that wouldn't.. and I don't think she will be the first.. despite what some of you think (CC) , at least dogs like me..

some chickens can be wing sexed.. all chickens can be vent sexed.. I am pretty sure that either MMM or Ideal vent sexes theirs.. I saw a documentary or was it on Dirty Jobs ? Vent sexing a lot of chicks is a messy job.. The people doing it did hundreds per hour.. A fast moving job, just don't lick your fingers..

The Steelers deserved to lose that game.. what were they trying to do in the last few seconds of regular game time ?? No plan.. and then delay of game ?? WTH ?? and with only seconds to work with, what the h3ll was that receiver dancing about ? get back to the line of scrimmage dumb bell !!!! dance on your own time.. they had called a time out, but he didn't know that..

say what you will,, Favre knew how to utilize the last 2 minutes of a game..

that rooster might have caught his comb on something and tore it open.. but once chickens see blood, they cannot help themselves, they will peck at it.. do not expect chickens to fall back on comraderie in a situation like that..

heat pad, hot water bottle,, neither will work if he doesn't lay directly on it.. just keep him generally warm.. A light bulb wil do the job in a dog kennel or a box..

fill up four 1 gallon jugs with hot water and put one i each corner of the box.. that should get him through the night..

a hen will peck at his comb, just like the roosters did..

Leave it to an old timer to give the best advice. I like the hot water gallon jugs !!!

I agree the hen will pick, if the blood is still there. If it quit bleeding and she put blue kote on it she may not but why take the chance. I was just thinking on what TO said about putting them back with the others, I wouldn't do that !!! He should be fine. I've found the more I fuss with them I have greater losses !!! They are pretty strong birds. It's the ones you really need to save (hens) that don't make it !!

Hey Jim, see if that guys last name from Park Falls is named Tessmer ! If so I almost bought a pup from him once. He had the Great Pyrenees. Also had a horse and cart for sale that I called him about once.

Nice guy if it's the same one, but I never met him. So glad it's working our for you with Nora. I see you haven't changed her name yet or aren't you going to?

Well, I just did something which alot of you might consider dumb !!!

I got caught up in the last moment of an auction for paint chicks !! Very good bloodlines so, well, I won !!! Oh oh !!! Part of my intent was to just see how high it would go without winning (cause that would raise my price eventually) but ran out of time !!!
gig.gif
That's ok, very good bloodlines !!!
Wouldn't be so bad but OM blew a tire on the horse trailer today, think I already said that Hey?????

Been one of those days, when I was talking to OM on the phone today and giving him the list of stuff to pick up at Maynards on his way back I told him to hold on while I found the list (short, just a few things) I picked up the paper, cel phone was setting on the table and I held the paper to my mouth and was talking into it !!! Ahhhh It's H3LL getting old, right Jim ???

Oh and then I put the turkey in the oven that I had asked OM to do if he got up before me. Well he didn't. His comment, "Got carried away with the salt hey" !!! Can't win !!! My reply under my breath, then do it yourself next time !!! He is a better cook then I, you would think he would learn by now to take things into his own hands !!!!

Evening All.... Glad you have the emergency under control Angie. Quite the ordeal for sure. They can get pretty fiesty at times. Good luck with the healing. Sounds like you received some great advice here.

Hope you are right about Eli putting on the pout face next week CC. I hope are old D shows up with a few more sacks than lately. Can't give him time to stand there and play catch, eh.

How about Tebows last pass of the game....sweet!

Nice picks FT...yep, that's the bar and grill...my daughter lives just up the road from there.

Thanks for the thread TO on the chickenstocks.....

Angie, do you have a styptic pencil or powder? That will stop the bleeding, you can pick up the pencil in the shaving section of any drug store Wal-mart etc... they are something like $0.99.......

I keep a couple around for trimming the Budgies wings/toenails and for the ducks too.

Did Christmas at the In-laws last night. SIL was being a Beeotch like normal, arguing with her DH the whole time about anything and everything (like how the dog plays fetch...). I do not know how he can tolerate being married to someone so miserable..... other than her, then rest of the time was great! Brought over some Cognac for my FIL and some red wine to have with our pizza. The kids loved their gifts and everyone else had a great time.

I suppose I should get to bed. I still have to take the tree apart yet..... maybe tomorrow or Tuesday I will get that job done.

Later!
