Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Since he doesn't have any competition, therefore has noone to fight with, he will be just fine with his comb as is, Tom. No need to worry.

Glad to hear Hansel is doing better. You were correct in leaving him in the cage. As long as they can still see each other, there shouldn't be problems reintegrating them. Just let his comb heal up before you release him, otherwise the others will most likely peck at it & possibly damage it further. Good luck & keep us posted.

hi all you fellow Cheeseheads!

I am so new here. I decided to get into chickens about a month ago and I'm currently incubating my first ever chickies! I live outside of Prairie du Sac/Sauk City, near the Wollersheim Winery. I am looking forward to making Cheesehead Chicken friends on here. Anyone ever dressed a chicken in something Packer yet and taken a pic...?

Nooner To All.... Welcome BigFamily happy you found the Cheeseheads. Great idea about dressing up one of the peeps. Post a pic when you have one to share. (I wonder what # will be on the jersey?)

Good to hear that you didn't lose your Roo Angie.

Ain't no dubbing gonna happen here!

Later... bigz

Big WELCOME Bf4me! Don't know how that would fly in the world outside of this thread. Packers= chicken. Maybe a #4 jersey.

Whats your hatch date? Stick around good people here! Angie also think good call on leaving Hansel in the porta puss! Amy I'm not changing my avatar and doubt Bigz will either. We loved our roo's! I sadly remember "Bigzio" and his heart wrenching end as well as my Peaches. Gone but not forgotten!

Tomski are you saying Bert has a serious comb over?

So this is short and sweet.

Tomski, No you don't have to dub, He will be fine.
TO he is out of a pure Ameraucana but has leakage in his hackles. Not good for breeding purposes but nice looking roo.

You will feel right at home here with all the other packer people, I'm not into football, but I'm learning and tolerating since I luv everyone on here. Plus they have to read about my pig, horses, ponies, donkeys, goats and my other donkey the DH !!! I may as well try to learn what I can about football. Better late then never I guess. I just can't remember the rules !!!

Talked to Tiki last night, wanted to make sure her eye problem was ok since we hadn't heard from her.

She is fine but her monitor crashed a couple weeks ago so she hasn't been on.

DrHa, Outhouse coop !!!!
gig.gif
That coop is actually the frame from one of those wooden swingset gyms.
Actually was a waste of money, doesn't hold to many. We are not using the top for chickens, that is for feed storage. That is why the run is so big. It was suppose to be for two coops !
And you thought it was a His/Hers outhouse !!! (Polish version)

Cind, You'd take a turken rooster right ? That's all I'd give up at this point. I don't have enough hens as usual !
And yes I guess you could say that is the batchlor pad !! All of those chickens in that tower coop were hatched from the second grade class that I gave eggs too. All EE'rs, Ameraucanas and Marans. 75% roosters !!
th.gif
It's gotta be the water or fresh air up here !!

Just talked to the neighbor that supposedly dropped off the cuckoo maran rooster in my Greenhouse. He said he put it in the tower pen with all those other roosters !!!

A month and a half ago !!!

Phone call would have been nice. He said he came back the next day and check on it and it was ok !! I'd like to know where the heck I was, Oh wait probably on here or sleeping, they are early risers up this a way !!

Ok, Now I'm really running behind. I'm late even for myself !!! Shoot and I'm hungry !!! BF$ME

I ordered a dozen Easter Eggers from mypetchicken.com. However they couldn't fill that order, so they sent me 5 EE, 3 Golden Laced Wyandotte, 3 Black Copper Maran, and 2 Blue Hamburg. I am leery of the Hamburgs because I said I wanted good layers with a docile nature. I'm kinda hoping they don't develop. I think all the others will be a good starter flock for WI. What say you experts?

I was looking at Craigslist today (posting one of my roos) and in the Eau Claire listings someone has posted about NPIP and stating that if you want to sell chickens, eggs etc..that they HAVE to be NPIP certified? Is everyone here certified? This is just for my own backyard pleasure-what gives?

let me field this one,,, hmmmm B>L S>t !!!

that is only a smidgen on the correct side.. If you want to sell to restaurants, maybe so..

You can sell your meat chickens if they are state inspected where they are butchered.. all of wisconsin processing facilities have a state inspector present on the days they do chickens..

eggs cannot be sold to restaurants, but they can be sold to private individuals.. however you can sell to a restaurant owner, it is his a$$ if he uses them in his restaurant, not yours..

there MIGHT be a requirement if a large number of eggs are sold per year.. you don't even come close if you have 5 dozen laying hens..

the guy on C L was only saying that to scare off potential customers (who wouldn't know any better) and increase his customer base..
