For more babies!

I have a lday driving an hr and 45 mins to pick out one of my roos. Last night Wally started acting like his one eye was hurt-keeping it closed. This morning its swollen around his eye-especially close to his beak. I dont see any signs of a bite or anything? Sprayed Vetrimycn in his eye and around it. Any thoughts?

Dr H Congrats on the hatchings-post pics?

HnR: No Wally is one of the roo's (I have 3-2 that I should re home) that I am looking to rehome. He appears fine, just slighlty puffy in front of his eye. It wouldnt even be apparant to anyone else. I am sure it has to do with the hormones flying/fighting over the hens. I am planning on steering her towards Hansel instead-but will let her choose.

She is already on her way and no way to reach her-fyi

Good morning once again! Not sunny here but bright. That sun sure felt great yesterday...kind fooled you into thinking it was warmer than it was! Sad news here though...when I went out to take pics of Tommy last night he was dead! THe yearling doe we had put in there had one half born and hanging --also dead. IT had a leg back so couldnt get the rest of the way out. So sad...I always beat myself up about stuff like that with the "if onlies..." It used to be way worse...sad to say, you kind of get used to it after years of having stuff die. So the doeling was Tina (of course) Nice looking kid too...if only...NOW JUST STOP IT!
SO that is pretty good for your hatch DrH...50%. Still think it shoulda been better though...gotta talk to those roos I guess. (what guy would be sad when told he needed to do "it" more!?)
I am expecting more lambs today...the rest of the goats will be towards the end of the week I think.

FT--are you saying you went out to hang those new waterers last night at 9 and were still up at 7? THat is just crazy woman!...I think you need to reset that internal clock of yours....you and Cind---SHEESH! Yeah--keep your DH away from that miter saw...my Dad did quite a number on his wrist with one of those...and he is GOOD with tools! One moment of carelessness...
On hold with the vet...waiting to talk to someone if I should take the limping dog in for an x-ray. THe bute really took the swelling down and she is hardly limping at all. Hate to have it be broken and not set it...OK they said my treatment was good and to just watch it since she isnt limping much today. Good, one less x-ray to do today...I am taking my client in at 4 for an evaluation and films to make sure she didnt hurt her hip when she fell the other day...

Better get this day started...time's a wastin' ! Have a great day! Terri O

Has anyone ever reacted negatively when asked to put plastic bags over their shoes before being allowed into your coops? Having someone who owns chickens, picking out one of my roos. I can have just the two roos outside in the run for her to view, but if there is any reason to go in on the ground where my chickens are-I really want to be careful about anything being passed on to my flock. Is it unreasonable to ask this?

Angie - I wouldn't think that unreasonable AT ALL! Actually, it would make me feel good, especially if I was getting birds from you. It shows that you care about your flock's health and welfare... Of course I wouldn't say something like "Cover those nasty arse boots of yours! I don't want my chickens catching any germs you might be carrying!"

or you could REALLY freak them out and have a little mat set-up outside your coop door. Remove your shoes and go in the coop barefoot. Ask them to do the same. Tell them it's precautionary...LOL

Looks like we are getting a bit of a heat-wave before the next Artic Blast blows in...

I'm just gonna do some "putzy" things around here today... I can't wait to get back to work in March.

TO - life is tough on the farm, eh? Thank God there are more Ups than Downs... I don't think anybody gets used to death.

Game SUCKED yesterday! We'll get'em next year!

Laters....

You got that right Tom! I was looking at all of your posts to find the one about the military SS thing for my friend and I came across the DE post. I was reading it to DD25 and we have decided that we will start taking it...there are just too many testimonials on line for them to all be wrong...RIGHT? So we have decided to start with a tsp in the morning and work up to a Tbsp. You are supposed to start seeing results within 2 weeks...I can handle that!
So thanks again for the great information...did anyone else start taking it?
