Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Afternoon!

It snowed a little bit here. Not enough to even get out the shovel but the combination of new snow, dropping temps, and yesterday's "thaw" the roads in town were pretty slick. I had to put the truck into Auto 4wd to be able to take off at one intersection - I was just sitting there spinning.

I originally went into town to pick-up a few things and while I was there thought " I need more beer." I always buy my beer in Wisconsin cause it is cheaper than here. Michigan charges 10 cents per can/'bottle, plus the tax is higher.... anyway - I go to my favorite "beer store" in Marinette and I see they have Newcastle Brown Ale ! - - - - - My absolute Favorite, a bit pricey but kinda hard to find. I bought a 12 pack. I also bought a case of my other favorite "On Sale." LOL I got into Newcastle while stationed in Scotland and have been in love since... MMMMmmmm ~burp~
I got 13 eggs today!

However, one of them has a "crinkled" looking shell. It's still thick and sturdy but it's got little ridges in it... I'll have to keep an eye on that. I THINK it means that the chicken laying it has a respitory problem. Anyone know anything about this????

Whoa - A buddy of mine just drove into the driveway... Got's to go. (He aint gettin' any of my Newcastle!) LOL

Hey Tom... One of my other screen names is Freak4Scotland...

I am an obsessed Scotland lover who has taken 3 of the 5 boys on a special mother son trips there. I just took my third son in October! Where were you stationed? I was also offered a NewCastle ale from my wonderful hosts while on the Isle of Skye. It wasn't half bad...!

Windy Dat to All... Happy to see the new Sandhill Catalog arrive. I'll be placing a seed order before the end of the month. Nice to see things heading toward Spring anyway possible.

Here I go again BUT....simply add some 5% sevin dust to the dusting area CC and poof problem solved. DE just doesn't rid the problem...might help prevent....but won't CURE...there now I feel better. It's just that I never have a vermin problem and wish other folks would take the leap, for a vermin free environment.

Nice pics everyone thanks for sharing....simple two clicks TO? I have no clue.

Pretty funny about saving the stash Tomski. I hate having to drink the cheap stuff when company is here when I know the good stuff is hiding....

When they leave you can dip into the good stuff and enjoy!

I know, I know Bigz. But it isn't on the shelves at the store just yet. I looked last week, I swear.

Is that Sevin kinda on the granular side? More granular than dusty?

Nope it's on the dusty side...looks like flour, and that's how it can work in hand dusters or just a empty catsup bottle for example. I buy the 5lb bag at fleet farm....lasts for a couple years. Sprinkle and mix in their dusting holes....repeat after 10 days. I do this in the dry spring and again in the fall. When I clean the coops, I add to the nest boxes before I freshen them up.

We baked one of the last winter squash today for freezing....it was a nice one. Sis saved enough squash for two pies she is gonna bake tomorrow and we froze 4 bags....10lbs squash after baking and cleaning... not bad for one veggie.

CC - You got 'dat right baby! ...Newfie Browns are 'da HEAT! LOL

BF4M - Was stationed in Edzell. It's Just South of Aberdeen - North of Edinburgh. My Daughter was born in Edinburgh. DD22 has been going back to see her family (I married a Scottish Lass) every 2 years since she was 16. All of her family (on her Mom's side) still live there. It's a beautiful Country and the people are unbelievably friendly... Without a doubt, it was my favorite duty station. I plan on returning one of these days - My Daughter is on my butt BIGTIME to go with her in 2013...

Bigz - I hear ya on the DE - I've been using it and love the way it deodorizes the coop but have read that it's only a preventative vice cure. I'm gonna pick up some Sevin....

Some High Speed Beef (Venison) stir fry w/ fresh Garlic, Broccoli, Snow Peas, Mushrooms, Onions & Jasmine Rice. MMMMMmmmm ~burp~
