Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

OK... I am trying this once again waiting for our chicken curry to get done.. I have clicked on the picture frame...the ADD OR UPLOAD AN IMAGE window is up. I have clicked on "browse computer" and unclicked the "save a copy to my default album" since I already have 3 copies on there! LOL! I am trying a new pic...the description now says: IMG_0794.JPG Big momint now....I am hitting the SUBMIT button!
OMG!!! Would you look at that? IT WORKED! I sure hope I dont have to go through this every time! I think I have figured it out though...I was double clicking on the pic on my puter...dont know if that had anything to do with it....if it works I dont care!
I am smelling the rice...better go and check. We are "Eating like the rich people" tonight! Terri O

Stuff is being sticky one here today so I am signing off...gotta go and check for babies anyhow! Today would be the day to be born! 6 degrees! BRRRR!
Have a fantastic day! TErri O

(PS) DrH--if you tell me what the label was on silver/blue's egg I can tell you the possibilities....maybe Blue Andalusian? H&R...is this what they look like as babies?

Trying this....
THe dog appeared on my earlier post but the new stuff I typed was lost...T

ps I found out how to make your pictures smaller when you post them. when you put a picture in your reply (note you should see your picture when you are typing your reply after you insert it) just click on the picture and you will see the resizing blocks (on the corners of the pic) just "grab" (click and hold) the corner block and move mouse toward the center of the picture.

ETA - AND once a picture is posted anyone can click on it and make it bigger

Wondering when eggs are frozen, can you use them the same? Do they cook up ok? Ok when used for baking?
(Asked in another forum and didnt have much response other than try one and see) I am now getting at least 5 a day and they are building up so would like to either give or sell them but want to make sure they are ok. Thanks!!

Should have action tomorrow CC. Seems like the broodys always are a day early...although this cold weather set might be different? Good Luck for a great hatch. Is this her first brood?

BBP what the heck....she needs a scolding for sure! I sure like the covered run area this winter. If the sun is out the flock enjoys the room to scratch and play. It cuts all the draft for the pop hole. Nice to leave it open for extra fresh air without a draft.

Later bigz

Yep. Both hers and mine. Hope I'm no worse a basket case than DrH.

I really didn't want babies in the dead of winter until I heard so many others were doing it. She was out in the coop until this past Friday. When DH got home from work, he couldn't stand it anymore. He brought the whole nest box in so I could transfer them into a cage. Worked great. She didn't put up much of a stink at all. I was quite suprised. Now here's hoping for a great hatch, and that she'll be a good momma!

I agree on the covered run idea. They are the absolute best in this crappy weather.

Congrats on getting the pic to work, Terri. That is a beautiful one. Spring can't get here soon enough for me!

Yikes! Now I'm getting nervous that some of the chicks could start arriving tomorrow. I just hope everything goes well. Think I'll be able to sleep tonight? LOL! Wish me luck, and sweet dreams, all!

I try to get out there 3xday at least when we have this kind of weather to prevent the frozen ones but....it happens! If I find one that is frozen pretty well with a largish crack I toss it in the pan in the coop and step on it with my boot. The girls go wild over this BTW! If they look like they are just starting to freeze I put them in a USE FIRST carton in the fridge. Many times my eggs stay out on the counter in a basket for easy grabbing! I think that if the shell is compromised you should refrigerate. I try NOT to put any frozen ones into For Sale eggs. I have never had a problem using frozen or partially frozen ones at home. HTH!

I have not raised the Blue Andalusians for long! I have only 2 hens and a roo and I think one of the hens might be a mix or banty type! Funny you should ask about them...I had several birds get out of that coop into the barn this morning while I was replacing bulbs in the water heater....yeah, the blue And. roo couldnt figure out HOW to get back in! He didnt trust me to get him over there either...I finally got a feed bag to herd him in! He was acting very dumb! I dont have a whole lot of hand contact with my birds but they do not seem to be a bird that offers to be friends with you.

GUess I better get off of here and go outside! I sure hope that I sleep better tonight,,,and my dogs dont howl at 3am to go out and my client doesnt call me at 6AM! Wishful thinking I know...BTW..the Chicken Indian Curry was delish! We had peanuts, banana, pineapple, coconut and cilantro on the curry--MMMMM. Terri O

I've never noticed much of a difference in mine. Maybe the yolk is a little runnier? But they taste fine, cook & bake fine, at least in my experience so far. I've been selling mine for the past 3 years also, and noone has complained or stop buying.

ETA: after reading TO's post, I guess I've never had any eggs that were frozen solid, just really, really cold. Anyway, we use those up first if we do get them partially frozen, but that is pretty rarely since the heatlamp keeps it relatively decent inside the coop.
