Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning all! I slept until nearly 10 today!!! That spa day must have really worn me out! Weird...I have to call BFF and see if she was out a while too. Who woulda imagined that?

So I guess I am having company today! LOL--good thing CC is bringing her DH...I guess he will throw her over his shoulder to bring her in? As we get older here I think we will have to be making some changes! Definitely NOT an accessible place! SO you guys will have to bring your boots...no palace here for sure!

I had some one in the drive this morning--that's how I woke up. With the horn blowing like the panic alarm...thought it was my car. But it was a van (I think) by the time I came down it was gone. well, dog wants out, again--better get moving!

(PS) Welcome back to all the lost souls!

A black Copper Maran joined my 2 EE. So far the first chick has the chipmunk stripes, the second one looks grey with brown, and then the maran. There are still 2 more eggs. I thought those ones for sure would have hatched before now. Big healthy looking eggs, with activie chicks inside. I guess we'll see what happens.

Great, now you have a trio. Hopefully you have at least 2 hens !!! LOL
The guy I'm getting the little piggy from emailed and said he couldn't today cause of some family issue or something. I will go down sometime this week I guess !!! Can't wait. Little Peetra or Peatra or is it Petra. Don't know how to spell it. DH picked out the name so I will use it.
Pronounces like Pea tra. Any idea how to spell it ?

sure spell it just like you did Peatra!

AWWWWWWW babies grow so fast, . glad they are doing well.
Sorry to hear about your son being sick, if you want the cough to quiet down some I would try wild cherry bark and Elderberry cough syrup, can be found at health food stores, or herb natural health marts. My son has Asthma, and when he gets the coughs thing it's really bad and this helps, much better than store bought crap... also about the same price but the cherry bark is a bit pricey..... works great tho. if he's really congested you could use mullin mixed with some nice flavored tea. the cherry bark can go in anything, but the mullin needs to be steeped. OR you can make a chest pack of it, along with wild mustard seed, and ginger mashed all together, with coconut oil, it should help alot ..Get well soon little guy....

thanks, I'll have to take a look at them, he's running a low grade fever yet and is still willing to lay on the couch and be still, he will be staying home with me tomorrow that's for sure!

Sunny Afternoon Here To All.... really toast in the covered run today. The Sun has the roo's in the mood for love...the 4 boys that are together would just as soon fight today, as get along.

Good to read everyone is having fun with hatching....before you know it we will be setting eggs for the April Fools Start and Finish hatch! Those of you that have a head start can join in and add to the young ones you already have....gotta keep workin the math, eh!

I haven't attempted to post pics on the new site either...don't have the patience for this puter stuff. All in due time, I'll give it a try....maybe April, maybe not.

Later... bigz

Thanks H&R for the spell check !! LOL Sure hope that little guy feels better soon. He sure must feel under the weather if he doesn't want to play !!

Ok so Bigz, are we starting the hatch for April 1st on March 11th so they hatch on the Fools day ? Cause if people only have one bator it will be hard to hatch on the same day as you set eggs on the 1st.
Geez, I'm going to have to hold off on the bating cause I'm running out of room and Spring doesn't get here as early as some of you get it !!!

Anyway Raim, if you want a pretty horse (but it needs work) check this paint out !!! http://wausau.craigslist.org/grd/2823658151.html did you see my posts from last night? Three ponies?

Jim, I'm confused, what else is new hey? Did you have a computer before? If so did you have pictures stored on your hard drive ? Or did you upload pictures to BYC?
Inquiring minds want to know so we can help ya out !!! My other question for ya is if you were going to need a rooster why didn't you need a breed that I have excess of ???

yes FT I see all the links for the horses! I love the b & w one and DH works in amherst but he would have to ride that one home lol

I don't have a horse trailer. oh and I like that price! but alas a fenced in area would have to come first before any horse. Thanks
on my comment about losing what I was posting, the reason I am losing my post is not the same reason some of you are losing yours (I don't think anyways) I got the blue screen of death and my computer shuts off??? TO I haven't check on what they said is causing this problem, I will though before I leave BYC.

I gotta run!

Afternoon All!!
Lots to catch up and and I see that some lost souls came by for a visit and Jim is back!

Not much going on here, took the nest box out of Cali's cage Firday and I re bred her this morning and Yesterday, Lucy the New Zealand kindled. She is going to be one of those "three strikes" does I think. She had like 15 kits, all on the wire, she never nested and never pulled hair. She will get re bred in a few days.
When I was messing around with taking out Cali's nest box Friday, I decided to take out the Champaigne's at the same time. I found some blood on her nest box that same day the Cali kindled but could not figure out why. Her due date was supposed to be two days after Cali's so I figured she lost them or ate them.
So after rooting around in Cali's box to make sure it was "all clear" for little kits, I moved over to the Champainge's, started to move some fur around and ran right into LIVE kits!!!! I freaked out! If I had any clue that she had any live ones I'd never have touched her box!! I immediately moved the fur back over the babie and put her box back. I was so upset that I did that. I figured that was it...she'd give up motherhood. I apologized profusely to her and gave her some bread as a treat. I left her alone and continued about my business. I told dh about it and that the babies looked black, not pink. He thought that they must have been 3 or 4 days old and she must have kindled the same day as Cali since they had fur already. So he said that if they were 3 or 4 days old, then the mama was in a pattern and we should be ok.
Anyway, I decided that I needed to check today to see if they were still alive. I looked in the box and saw nothing but a huge pile of fur and some shavings that had been moved around. I thought, this is it, they are goners. Then...the fur started to move!!!! The babies are still alive!!!!!!

I have no idea how many she has. I can hardly believe she kept her first litter alive!! What an amazing mama bunny! The breeder told me Champainges make great mothers! She was not kidding! If Lucy meets the stock pot, then I think I'll get another Champaigne.

Other then that, the Girls are all good and sassy. The Welsummer likes to venture out into the snow. I also so the Orloff's out there too. SG just stands in the little chicken doorway and looks forlorn.

Well, that's about it.
Cheers!
