Baby number two has hatched! Much smaller and weaker than Rocket. Rocket got out and walked. Second chick is very stumbley. Darker too I think. I'm praying it rests up and makes it, so Rockets not alone. I still have 3 eggs left, 1 EE and 2 BCM. I have seen only one of them rocking on their own. None of those have even pipped yet, so I think sleeping through the night will be fine (ha ha yeah right!)

Well, Let's see !!! I don't think I have as many as TO but I think her and I have everyone else beat !!!
Ok starting with chickens............. I have no idea !!! That's the truth !!! I don't think any more then a couple hundred ???? LOL Seriously, my feed bill shows it !!
I have about 16 Runner Ducks, 2 Rouen Ducks and 1 Mallard duck and a pair of Geese (I think mixed breeds African or Chinese Crosses??)
3 Peacocks, 5 Peahens. Who knows how many Guineas !! lol Twenty something ??
2 Great Pyrenees dogs, Rex and River , (still can't spell it LOL), 1 Chocolate Lab, Reba and Butt dog (12 yr old Bischon, Shitzu mix)
2 cats (that someone dropped off) Whisper & Nash
6 horses
3 donkeys
2 ponies
6 goats
1 pot bellied pig and maybe another one tomorrow
1 cockatiel, 4 Congo African Gray Parrots, 1 Blue & Gold MaCaw
I think that's it !!!!

Wow FT, that's allot of critters! I wouldn't be able to take care of half that many anymore! Not to mention the feed bill!!!

I'm sure TO is around there (if not more). But then, who am I to talk, I had a Pet Store! I love my chickens but for house critters, I would take reptiles over birds any day. I miss having rats and ferrets too. At one point we had 9 ferrets! 4 we were ferret sitting for and 5 were ours. I wish we had pictures (or better yet video!)of outside exersize time. We put them all in their harnesses and leashes then tied the leashes together and let them run! It was so, so funny watching this mass of ferret running across the yard! Stopped traffic more than once with people stopping to look!

OK, going to try the sleep thing again...night!

Yeah I know, that is allot isn't it ?? !!!! I really should commit myself !!!! Yep the feed bill is Humongous !!! That's why I need to start selling eggs again. It doesn't pay the bills but does help !!
Just need to find the time to get them rearranged and the pairs I want to set up.

I remember as a kid my Mom saying when I grow up she said, I will Drive a fast car, Have big Boobies and Have allot of kids !!! LOL Well, I drove a Nissan 300 ZX, My boobies aren't Pancakes and well my "kids" are animals (she never did specify if they were human kids) and I have allot of them !!! Moms are always right !!!!

You can keep the reptiles. The only reptile I'd own would be a turtle and my tropical fish (which I do have tanks set up but nothing in right now)

Been racking my brain trying to figure out where in the heck to put all of these silkies !!! Time to downsize but I hate doing that. They are family.
OK, my eyelids are trying to slam shut again. I just go up for a potty break. Time to go back to sleep for a while !!

Good Morning All! What a bunch of good news to read! Jim's back, Bl4 checked in, Bec is doing good!, H&R's DS is on the mends, And Bf4 is a new proud mama! I know there's more but..... Jim it's whole new world for you. Quite the learning curve. Bf4 who are you trying to kid? It's just gonna get worse! Glad things are going better! FT thinking piggy would enjoy another playmate.

Had a real good time with the DD, BF, and his DS yesterday. His DS is 2 and has quite the vocabulary. DD taught him to call me Old man Joe. Hey old man Joe lets go look at the chickens.

DD wants chickens so bad but the BF doesn't. We'll see who wins this one. He still wants to hatch 50 pheasant eggs this spring told him he could borrow the bator. He has a line on a quail egg turner don't know it will fit my bator yet. Guess the question for those in the know is chicken egg turner or quail? Looks pretty snappy outside today better get some water to the coop!

Wow FT-Lots of animals but how fun iis that? Can't imagine the work that goes into taking care of all of them though. I told you I had a business raising exotic birds when I lived in Cali? Saw your list and am jealous! I now have 4 house cats though, so until the pass on someday-no birds in the house.

BF4: Congrats ob the babies-can't wait to see more pics. I am really wanting to add EEs this spring so will be fun to see the colors your turn out.

sunny morning here, we did get some snow last night- probably a good inch so DH is out doing snow route- he was figuring on getting a bunch of paper work done today as they finished the unit yesterday and it is ready for Feb 1st!

now to get the 2nd one touched up tomorrow and the 3rd one has someone moving out the last day of Jan so that will be a quick clean too.

DS(6) is starting to feel better, was up and moving yesterday evening-playing Wii with his brother for awhile, he slept good last night- was able to breathe much better, still has a barky cough so we'll see how today goes. Cind I agree, it's hard when they are so miserable- the worst is when he has problems breathing- thankfully we have only gone through this twice and it's been 5 years in between.

Have to clean the 2 crates of babies, moving the ones in our kitchen out to the heated garage today- that will give us a few days before the 3rd group is due(Feb 7th). Setting up a bigger area for the 1st group(hatched Jan 1st)- they need more room. DH has very kindly said we can make a bigger pen on the back of the flat deck trailer for this group. So we best get going-DD will be helping me

Another jumbo egg this morning! Longer than the one yesterday (not quite as wide), and a different shade then the one yesterday...

Is there ever shade differences in color from the same hen?

These are way bigger than the store ones!! And Im thinking it may be from one of my new layers-who isn't very big herself!!

WWWWWWW babies grow so fast, . glad they are doing well.
Sorry to hear about your son being sick, if you want the cough to quiet down some I would try wild cherry bark and Elderberry cough syrup, can be found at health food stores, or herb natural health marts. My son has Asthma, and when he gets the coughs thing it's really bad and this helps, much better than store bought crap... also about the same price but the cherry bark is a bit pricey..... works great tho. if he's really congested you could use mullin mixed with some nice flavored tea. the cherry bark can go in anything, but the mullin needs to be steeped. OR you can make a chest pack of it, along with wild mustard seed, and ginger mashed all together,with coconut oil, it should help alot ..Get well soon little guy....
