Sorry about the silkie- hope it is feeling better soon. Those vaulted skulls cause lots of problems with them. I have a brain damaged one and besides talking to walls and not laying, she is a good surrogate momma to little ones.
We love our 1 salmon favorelle that we have. She is about 6-8 months old and so sweet. Thought she had a bad foot until I read more on being a 5 toed bird and she walks more on the front ones than the back one.Beautiful creamy smaller eggs.

On a nice note, Carol and I found a lady with a nice mix of purebred birds that she is looking for homes for. They are about 8 months old and carol is nice enough to Quarantine them for me until my run is done. But if this weather keeps up, might be sooner than later!

I had a young pullet go broody today, she is a silkie cross and only about 7 months old.. well I stuffed some eggs under her, and now to hope for the best.
Off to bed now.

Jim... That Thia hen I got from you is broody. Do they make good moms? She's turning unto a darn nice hen! Now that she figured out she's a chicken and not a guinea !

DrH... Thanks for the pics and the info. It's different than we thought... but, got our wheels turning in a different direction. That is a much more efficient type than we have and I think if we get the air flow right we could heat the place with 1/3 to 1/2 less wood!

Even a 1/4 less would help!

Most of you woman will relate...You know how it is when "mom" gets real sick and hasn't even seen the rest of the house for days... then finally you feel well enough to venture out... then you want to go back to bed and sleep 'till it all goes away? Yep... not pleasant!

Good Morning Everybody! Cind I'm all about less work

Hope you decide to take it otherwise I'll probably put it in the paper as free. Forgot to say the firebrick is all intact too. The cracks aren't really that big of a problem. It's just that I'm always trying to improve things. TO that sucks about the attack!

Spent most of yesterday outside, sure was nice! Got everything done that was needed and then some. Looks like I'll have to open that can of paint that's been glaring at me.

Dooner quit working so hard! Good to hear from ya! Going to fire up the grill today and precook some brats, burgers, and dogs.

I typed a nice long reply last night, but when I try to use smilies it shuts down the screen and it's lost. So frustrating! I said forget it, and decided to fight with the youngest til midnight

. I had a crib tent on there, he figured out how to climb through a split seam, reached his brothers Legos and played destructor from his crib! So I had to take apart the net and bedding etc at 11:30. Finally said that's it and slept in the bunk bed so I could yell at him and make sure e stayed in his bed. I remember midnight hollering and it gets foggy after that.... 6:30 am he's up and jumping and squawking in his crib! Nap today I think!

I'm sad about the other babies! At least the one is safe and sound. It will be very special now to share pictures of Venus. I can tell you right now on her left wing she is sprouting cream feathers with the gray. That wing will have a cream stripe in it... Very cute!

Ok I have questions but better submit this before it shuts down on me!
