Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Guess who I found when I came home from shopping today? Now that I think about it I haven't seen her in the nest boxes in a long time. I think she's gone broody and has a hidden nest. She got scooped up and locked in the coop so if she has a nest she better forget about it! I had no hope of finding her. Living on the river, anything left out over night is dead by morning.
The call duck eggs are $20/dozen. Once they start laying well enough to get a dozen in 3 days I'll start shipping. Right now I'm getting one egg every other day. I have 6 in the incubator now and they are all developing.

Are you serious CC?! Congrats on the baby of course.... But what the what? Pictures please.... NOW!

Let's just wait and see what you get! I am more than happy to give or trade you if it's not a LO. I want you to have your dream chicken. A sweet soul deserves it. Now... when you are sassy and snotty, I rethink that theory... But then I go back to thinking you're a good sh*t !

Raim they are adorable !! Silkies can have light tips on their toes when they hatch. They might out grow it or might not. The two small ones look silkie to me.
There is nothing cutier then a silke chick and silkie crosses are even cutier sometimes. IMHO

CC, don't let Bf4m fool ya, she just wanted to stop your yappin !!!!!

Has nothing to do with you being the bestest !!!

Good evening everyone! With all i have to catch up one it feels like I have been gone for weeks! LOL! Thanks for all the chick pics! I have a few of my own of course!

This is the only egg that has hatched so far...it is easily a day early! I am expecting the rest tomorrow starting at 2!~ So this one is from Elaine's pen! All striped birds...from the feathers it looks to be a roo? There are 3 hens in there...Elaine (a Dominique) a barred rock and a striped mix. The roos are all striped too...not sure on the big guy if he is a barred rock or a cucko marans w/o feathered legs! Th eother roo is one I bred....looks like a Legbar....
Here is one of my dogs really enjoying the chick TV!

The chick really likes when she lays there! I put some animals in for it but it "calls" the dog constantly! I sure hope something else hatches tomorrow!

So I guess I ought to get some food in for dinner! DS23 is here along with DD25 and he wants chicken for his birthday dinner....better get it cookin'! Terri O

PS--that venison wrapped with bacon sounded delish Bigz!

ETA:
Grit
Ever heard the saying "scarce as a hen's teeth"? That's right, chickens don't have them! Instead they eat tiny pebbles and store them in their "crop". When the food enters their crop, the pebbles grind it up to make digestion easier. For baby chicks, sand, parakeet gravel or canary gravel, available at your local pet store or grocery store pet aisle, will suffice. You can either sprinkle this in their feed or provide it in a small cup or bowl.

Dont believe this! They dont store anything in their crop but food! Grit is stored in the gizzard like the previous quote from this message says! Also I do not think grit is good for chicks. They have what they need in their food.
