MLH- it was nice to meet you tonight and put a face to a name! Nice presentation with your DH. It seemed people traveled from some long distances to see your presentation, must have been the celebrity writer everyone heard about.

and now you got me thinking more chicken math...if quail are not chickens how do you count them? lol Eitherway that would be some considerable set up, but I may have come across a couple of opportunities on my way home! I do like to talk and get free things!

I've been seeing a LOT of ads on CL lately from people selling eggs. I don't understand why anyone would flag an ad for eggs.

Been a long day. Cleaned out both brooders and the bunny cage all before mom got here. Then spent a few hours shopping.

Came home & did a load of dishes, some laundry & made dinner, not exactly in that order. Sounds like the heavy rain got here. Better send this off & hit the sack. Stayed up too late last night watching the race after it finally got resumed. Glad a WI driver won, and another in the top ten.

Raim...From what I read about guineas, the female has a 2 note call while the male only one note. Jim may have a better idea but seems to me I asked him months ago.

But then, we all keep learning! I may have wound up with all hens, If i do have a male he isn't doing his job... at least I haven't caught him at it!

TO... I want to know too how a lawyer from Chicago knew to call you about the rooster? And what kind do you think he is? Is his head that big or just the angel? And fizzy feet too? LOL

Got a load of wood today... other than that nothing exciting. Jasmine is gearing up to brood again. How long of "nest setting" can they do before they get fertile eggs and still be on them long enough to hatch? I'm hoping to hold her off 'till the 11th so I can get in on the Foolish hatch. But then Storky went broody about a week after Jasmine did last time. Maybe. In any case I'll start pairing 'em up and saving eggs. What temp. is best to hold them at?

both daughters wanted me to come in and play cards tonight.. DD#1 picked me up and took me to town.. It was a hairy ride.. then neither wanted to bring me back home,so Barry brought me home.. another hairy ride.. there is about a good 4 inches of snow and now it was sort of raining.. I hope it switches back to snow.. I will be plowing, at any rate.

then I tried to read my mail,, at first I could not get connected to the internet.. IDk if the snow has anything to do with that.. I played solitaire for a few minutes and then the connection was made...

I just finished my beer , so it's off to bed I go..

this will be at least a 2 plow deal for me, 10" here under the big pines already,,,roads have to be really drifted with the wind,,,,just talked my DD into calling work telling them she will be running late she drives 25 miles to Woodruff and I know she'll regret it if she attempts it this early.

when laying in supplies,,got gas for the tractor and the generator,,got milk, bread, cigs,,,,,,,but I forgot propane for the greenhouse heater,,,grrrrr I'll test the roads myself in an hour or so hopefully #45 will have been plowed,,,,never know, the "budget cuts" have really slowed that process so far on such a mild winter

I get my feed recently from a new store on 70W across from the go cart/horse place(funny how those 2 go together in the tourist area), get a 10% farm discount and will deliver pallet loads for free,,,,puts the price on layer at $21/100#,,,I had been buying from the co-op in Bruces Crossing or the Aniwa mill both are great but are also an hour drive from here

Good White Morning Most!

Didn't get much here and the sleet knocked that down pretty good. TO good thing that roo has long toes think it would tip over if he didn't. Handsome boy! Bf4 Amy posted a pic of Logan one time and his cheeks were rosy and he looked just like Cartman to me. He's just so dang cute! Makes you just want to tickle him when you see him. The details are a little fuzzy but but went to Weasels once many years ago for a bachelor party. The donkey escape made me think of some "shows" one could go see down in Mex.

Looks like the bad weather is finished here, cars are moving pretty good. Gonna have L take the Jeep today. Windier than a B though. FT maybe an extra extra key hanging in the house? I learned years ago that you never get out of the vehicle without taking the keys with you. Guess I won't see DD dance don't think we get that channel.

Guess I'm gonna have to finally open that paint can today, can't seem to find any more deterrents.

I need some help...I have a chick less than 1 week old (Silver Spangled Hamburg) that just does not seem like it is growing...I have seen her eat and drink and run around the brooder, but it does spend some time under the heat lamp...

I was thinking about adding some sugar, I do not have electrolytes and will not beable to get some till Friday.

any thoughts would be great

I had a silver spangled hamburg once. They do not grow that big. They are kinda like silver sebrights really. And if she's only a week old you should wait a litte, she'll grow more. But if she looks sick in anyway, you'll need help.

Good Morning.
So how does the little ones poop look? It could have cocci even if there is no blood in the poop. Even if you are feeding medicated food they can get cocci.
In that case use Sulmet or Corrid. Corrid is easier on their system and Sulmet can damage either their kidneys or liver (can't remember which). at higher dosages. Should be ok for short term use though.
If you have any yogurt with live cultures you could feed that. Add some probiotics if you have that. I don't know what you are using for light/heat but if you are using just a regular light bulb you might increase the wattage or move it closer if it is chilled.

That's about all i can suggest. Alot of people buy liquid childrens vitamins. Poly Vi Sol (the one WithOut Iron) and give it a tiny drop. That won't do anything for cocci though.

PS It might like some scrambled eggs. They are high in protien and alot of good vitamins.
