Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I wanted to update: Wally and I had a little "love fest" this afternoon. Brought out sprouts and hand fed to the girls...was still getting the stink eye from Wally. After 10 mins of chasing him I finally caught him. Poor lil guy was scared of me (Feeling really bad about the booting him when he attached now) I snuggled with him for 15-20 mins and hes "all better" lol. I can NOT believe the difference in his attitude. Instead of looking on full alert and ready to attack when I entered the coop-he is now relaxed and even came up and took a grape out of my hand. THANK YOU for all the advice!!!! I am hoping this new attitude stays but if not I now know how to fix it.

Hi folks,

again nice pics and funny stuff providing some laughs,,tks

Found this on CL,,,might be some of the new breed you gals found

http://up.craigslist.org/grd/2884426976.html

I also missed some Cuckoo Marans in the UP,,,day late ,,,,,again. Sometimes things happen for a reason those would have disrupted some plans here

Spent an hour cleaning out the next section of the old coop here, I'm only using 1/4 of it with these 25 birds, it has roof issues on the opposite end but I will get another 6X12' of room separated in the next couple of days to get these birds sorted out.

Also need to take advantage of the upcoming warm days to get that breeder cage built and the brooder shack out of the snowbank and put together.

All these projects need to be off the list as full fledge gardening days approach.

bbl to lurk some more

Thats for all the tips every one. I did loose my Black Jersey Giant. :( So far today we'r doing good. I moved the brooder to a new location just in case they were getting a draft I didn't know about. I have electrolytes in the water. So I guess its just a wait and watch thing. I just hope I dont loose anymore.

On a positive note, I finally got a truck. :) It's an F-150 ext cab like I wanted with only 134K on it. Needs front tires and a rear brake line fixed but thats not a problem.

Sorry I was going to reapond to some posts but lost tract and I'm only on for a few minutes. I'll try to catch up next time I come on. I hope everyone has a good evening.

WcC, If I had only known that a few weeks ago..... The boys I bought are a turquoise/white and a grey/white.

I have to say it is really nice to take my semi-grown daughters out for a fun day. We hit the mall and picked up some clothes for their brother (15 yr old), a few items for each of them, and they helped me pick out some baby clothes for a friend who is going to have her 4th any day now. The Paine was absolutely gorgeous! It was so nice to be out of the snow and surrounded by the perfume of so many flowers! The craftsmanship inside that building is amazing, the woodcarving alone is worth looking at for hours just to try and figure out how it was done. I would like to go back in the Spring/Summer to see the gardens in all their glory.

The fashion exhibit was the perfect finish for our day out. The museum had a scavenger contest going on, you had to find all the jewels hidden in the first floor of the building to win a prize (always nice to have 3 pairs of eyes looking), and then upstairs to the clothing. The girls were amazed at how tiny people were 100+ years ago, and the waist sizes! I would topple over if I was that tiny! The clothing was exquisite, just blows your mind at what was constructed with just hand sewing.

So now we are back home, all tuckered out and I have to make dinner! This is when I wish we had food delivery...... but I know homemade is SO much better so we are having baked chicken. :D

Awe How sweet Angiebubs!

Thank You FrenchToast for teaching me how to post the pictures from my camera! And I have some lil' babies to brag about now. Tw blue bantam cochins hatched this morning. I really like the one on the right.. Ohh I really like both of them.

Here are the other two that hatched the other day. The yellow and purple one is a millie fleur D 'Uccle X serama( I am pretty sure)~ The dark one I thought was a partridge wyandotte but it's legs are getting dark so am not sure. Maybe EE? Some hens snuck some eggs under my broody before I decided to artificially incubate them.
