Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning everyone. Its going to be a another great day outside. The duckling is still alive but flops like crazy when someones near his box. Then once he settles down he is laying on his back with his neck completely flipped back. I have to hand feed and water since it has zero control of its head and legs. I am still giving liquid vitamin B like I found suggested on Metzer farms but havent seen any improvement except that it ate like crazy when I help its head still and food right by its beak. I dont know what else to do or how long to keep doing it. I'm not sure if its in pain or heck if it will even get better.
Well I have a house to clean thats I've been neglecting and still tons more in the yard to do so I better get movin. I hope everyone have a great day.

Sounds like you are doing all you can for the little fella !! As long as it at that well I would maybe give it a bit longer. And definately keep up with the Vitamins as suggested. Vitamin B is water soluable so it won't hurt to give extra.
What are you feeding ? I think ducks need high protien right? Anyone ??? I wonder if you feed it scrambled or hard boiled eggs. They have a good source of Vitamin E and Selenium as well as of course protien.
I'm not that familiar with Duck issues though.

Keep us posted. Good Luck little Fella, we're rootin for ya !!!

Right now I am feeding it Flock Raiser with water added so its easier for it to eat it. I just bought the Flock Raiser though, the ducklings were on the Chick start and grow for a little over a week. The other ducklings (1 pekin, 1 rouen, and 1 cayuga?) are all doing great. I try out the scrambled egg idea thanks.

Hoping that sweet little thing is ok appyl. Looks to be another gorgeous day today. Running some errands and working on the new run...needs more dirt.

Have a great day

Hey CC,

I'm only going down for a few days. DH can't handle all of this up here by himself. I'm coming down probably late Thursday afternoon. Can't drive with the stock trailer at night since it doesn't have running lights. It does have the break and blinker lights though.
I'm hoping I can bring home my garden tractor if I can get my Brother to load it up for me.
Cause I have this wonderful friend named JVLS 1942 that offered to fix it for me !!! Right Jim ??? Then when I drop it off I can pick up the mink cages you picked up for me ????

I don't back it up well though, especially into a driveway in the city so I may just park it on the front lawn. Citation ready to happen, in Racine !!! lol

I have a bone density test and doctor appointment on Friday, then meeting up with my Mom's relatives for dinner in Milwaukee.
My Mom's cousin (my God Mother, Aunt Bette) is also 90 yrs old and you would never know it. She is the most lovable, beautiful (inside and out) woman you would ever meet !! She is recovering from a fracture in her spine. The sad part is she is so allergic to medications she can't use pain meds or even have her mouth froze for dental work !! OUCH !!

Anyway, then of course I have to spend some time with my Auntie E at the assisted living facility.
Go to her house and help my sister a bit, That's always fun ......NOT !!

On the way home I'm picking up those sebastapol geese. Either Sun or Monday.

It's going to be a long weekend. Driving tires me out alot.

Wish I could stay longer and visit but this trip I wouldn't be able to.

Good Mornin'

Looks like another sunny/warm day in store for everyone!

Jim made it here yesterday - had minor navigational problems just a mile or so from the house and for some reasons when he would call me, my phone wouldn't ring - but made it here nonetheless... I think we ended up loading 8 of the cages on his big trailer. I hope the load made it home safely - that trailer was really loaded and I haven't heard anything from him.

I wish he could have stayed, drank a few beers and shot the Sh!t - Don't let his "on-line gruffness" fool ya - he's one of the "good guys." However, he was in a hurry to get home and I don't blame him with this nice weather and so many things to do...

There are only a couple of cages left - I'll have to go back out and get a good count... I still haven't gotten mine yet! LOL

Hope everyone has a Happy & Productive day!

Laters......

Tom

to all the newbies!!!!

Kids got the big pool out yesterday for the ducks, and Checkers was right in there getting down to business..... maybe we will be getting some eggs soon.....

Had the big Irish dinner of Corned beef, cabbage, new potatoes, carrots, soda bread, and some rye bread. Topped it all off with Apple pie and some Irish coffee!

It is getting so nice outside, I better get my butt out there and start cleaning up my flower beds.

Later all!

good morning, sorry we couldn't stay and drink a few Tom.. Dave was willing to stay overnight, but he would rather not, so that is why we came home.. I didn't even think to take our picture together.. I brought the camera along and then just spaced it..

true to it's nature, the Blazer did give us some grief on the way home.. It just up and quit running just 22 miles East of Antigo.. I called Annie and she called the towing guy we use.. but in the meantime, I fiddled with it and got it running again so we limped the rest of the way home.. I think it is a fuel related problem.. Every time I head up Antigo way with that Blazer, it does something like this to me.. Last time the alternator went out.. and one other time, the battery went dead because I failed to keep the doors shut at a swap.. I think Antigo is an Indian word for Blazer troubles..

I am really tired and sore today.. too much riding / sitting yesterday..

I am going to get a scoop or two of wood chips and spread them over the muddy spots in the yard.. IDK why it is taking so long to dry up back there..

I have 8 cages here on the trailer,, I will be needing only one..

they are 3 feet wide, 12 feet long and 18 inches high.. all in all are in pretty good shape..

I just love having lots of posts to read! Seriously... Love it! It's like gabbing in a room full of people, but I can check in when I want. :)

I too loved the idea of me face down in a bowl full of cherries. Fuuuuunny! But IF I came (don't know yet) I have lots of children to watch. Even if I didn't keep the stink eye on the oldest four, I still have the little one to run after, literally. I can't drink till I puke, and probably won't even get to talk to anyone because of the chasing.May be I should put a leash on him, strap it to CCs chair, and let him drag her around? Now that would be funny!!! :p

Gotta go get kids from Sunday school... bbl all

Hey, Just saw on CL that there is a seminar in Wausau on the 27th with MLH hubby. MLH will you be there ?

Sure now I need to get home from my road trip and then take another one to Wausau !!!

Sounds like a good time. I might just have to go see what it's all about.
